Did you know that a "pork sausage" needs only 42% pork content to be classed as such, and that a standard "sausage" just 32%? This is in comparison to burgers, which must have 50% meat content.

Market Kitchen's Mathew Fort is rallying for the legal requirement of sausages meat content to rise to at least 80%. Do you agree with Mathew and want more bang in your banger? Join the debate, or email your thoughts to marketkitchen@optomen.com

Hi Porridge,
Unfortunately due to the way our message board technology is built, when a topic is closed all threads are deleted. I hope you’ll be able to save links and messages before 1 May.
Thanks, Amanda

Hello all,

Thanks for your comments about the first episodes of Market Kitchen; we really do appreciate all your feedback.

We do understand that the change in our programming may take a little adjustment – however lots of you managed to tune in – we had very high viewing figures for these first episodes. You can also catch the repeats at 12.30 the next day, with an added 30 mins of extra food and recipes.

We hope that the programme’s format and presenters will become a much loved part of your daily viewing - look out for more really great chefs, guests and features over the coming months.

Thanks once again,

UKTV Food

Hello,
As Great Food Live has now come to an end, we'll be closing this message board on Tuesday 1 May. There are still plenty of other boards for you to meet and chat, so you've got a bit of time to arrange where to meet up!
Thanks for making this such a lively board.

From today you may notice a double underlined green link on some of our recipe pages. This is because we’re trialling a new advertising technology, called IntelliTXT, which chooses one key word per page and links it to a related advertisement. We really like the way this works as the adverts are relevant and subtle – hover your cursor over the key word and a small advertising window will appear, move the cursor away and the advert disappears.

The UKTV Food website aims to provide free access to thousands of recipes, food features and video content, which we fund through advertising. We’re constantly searching for new mediums that are integrated and relevant – we feel this service offers both.

Thanks for your passionate feedback on Great Food Live – we’re really proud to have created the channel’s longest running show and to have Jeni as the presenter for more than five fabulous years.

Great Food Live is so successful that it’s been emulated on other food shows – so that means it’s time to move on and create more ground-breaking food shows. Happily, Jeni will continue to be one of the main faces on UKTV Food, and there are exciting plans in store for this year.

We value your views and look forward to showing you what UKTV Food does best – making entertaining and engaging telly.

Kind regards,

UKTV Food team

Good food does provoke debate and passionate feeling and this fiery curry seems to have done just that. As with all our series, we do have recipe editors and home economists on board who ensure recipes are checked before being published.

Lily's curry has tempted many of us into the kitchen to make it for ourselves. However slip-ups do happen and this is one occasion where things weren't quite right with the recipe. We then set about discovering how to get things back on track. There seems to be confusion over whether the dish is an accurate reflection of what was cooked on TV - let us assure you that this is the real thing and it is Helen's own family recipe as handed down by her gran.

It's the weekend - let's draw a line under this recipe debate now and get our pinnys on and make some great grub!

Hi there,

I’m really sorry for all the confusion with this recipe, there is a reason behind it… Lily Kwok’s curry is meant to be a kept family secret so the initial recipe we got at UKTV Food was quite different to what was made on the show. Once we realised how different the two recipes were we got back in touch with Helen and have since been negotiating for a better match.

Here’s the version of the recipe that appeared on the show: [link]

Helen also asked me to let you all know that she’s just published a book about her gran, her curry, and the story behind it: [link]

We always endeavour to make sure our recipes are correct and assure you that this really was a one off due to the “secret” nature of the recipe.

Even though it’s been a bit of a palaver, it’s great that this recipe has been so inspirational to so many of you. Thank you for all your interest and support. Amanda.

We thought we’ve sorted this out but obviously we haven’t. I’ve taken the recipe off the website and will put it back up when it’s corrected – hopefully this will be early next week.
Thanks for your patience, A.

Hi Rosemary,

All the cheeses featured were from La Fromagerie, they have two shops in London and a website: [link]

The shops are amazing - almost like museums - def worth a visit.

Thanks, Amanda

Hi there,
The message board is hugely important to all the UKTV Food team – we listen and take on board all your comments and suggestions.
It’s only natural that people have differing opinions on what makes great television, but we really do take each opinion seriously.
Keep an eye out on the message board for upcoming posts on the new show, Market Kitchen, starting in April…
Cheers, Amanda – UKTV Food

Someone from our technical team has looked this and they’ve assured me that the newsletter is being sent to you from this end. It’s worth checking your firewall as sometimes providers update them automatically. Thanks, A.

Hi J0405,

I've checked your newsletter status and it appears that we have been sending them out to you from this end.

Did you stop getting the newsletter around the time you changed provider? Or have you updated a firewall setting on your email account?

Please let me know if either of these are the case.

Thanks, Amanda - editorial assistant UKTV Food

Hi there,

Not really sure why that happened - it shouldn't have, so sorry about that. Next time we run a competition with Great Food Live we'll also put it on the GFL page aswell. Less likely for both links to go wrong eh?!

Thanks, Amanda
