Hi all, its been a few years since ive been on this webpage! Ive spent the last few years in bhutan on business. Which leads on to my view on the following food issues. I feel that there is real effort from first world citizens to supress the import of third world food produce. This has been achieved by the media and goverment bombardment of and promotion of "carbon foot step" frenzie and "trendies" promoting "local" produce to the detriment of supporting our friends abroad. This discouragment of buying food from abroad highlights a very real problem and I urge you all not to be sucked into the hype.

Hi welcome back I hope you are well and had an enjoyable time away. We are encouraged to buy local fresh produce, what should we do? Confused

We should buy local fresh produce because it is generally fresher and more nutritious, better for the environment because it hasn't travelled far so has done fewer "food miles", and supports the local community. Smile

I fully support buying locally produced foods but love to cook with fruit and veg that isn't grown in this country - my local farmers market is great but not too many pineapples grown in the west country.
