this program is SO boring, do the producers think tjis is good televison, The presenters have no personality,or presenter skills. do they really think this is better than GFL.Humour and food make the best combination. Please bring it back with Jenny.Listen to what the audience has to say.
I agree... I've been trying to get interested but the presenters are just too boring, the recipes are OK. I really miss GFL and Jen
One person cutting up a pineapple is interesting but three? One person preparing a squid likewise!! What's with all the competitiveness? Everything sees to be done in a hurry just to fill in the time and has a slightly hysterical feel about it. As for the presenters , less interfering dialogue would help and more interaction with selected invited guestsl and let the Chefs get on with their presentation. On the plus side the location feel is great.
Hello Tony3378 et al, yours is just one message board strand on Market Kitchen..I just jumped over from living on the other strand to view yours and it seems no-one likes MK, or Market Kitchen Nightmares as we are now calling it! Oh dear, let's hope it improves, maybe a visit from Mr Ramsay might help! Reg.
as i said to my wife, told you so!!!!!!!!!! i am not normally of such strong opinions but i said even before jen was taken from our screens that this was a big mistake but i didnt think it would be such a catastrophe. tpb has no cooking skills whatsoever, Tana is a good cookery writer but i think one day she will take her fingers off as she has no knife skills whatsoever, mathew fort is so well respected that if he doesnt bail out asap he will become a laughing stock to every other respected chef and critic, he will be judged by his lack of judgement and a fine critic will be resigned to the waste disposal. it may not have been intentional but gfl attracted the ordinary foodie to the programme and jen was sympathetic to her loyal audience. that is not say the ordinary joe bloggs is not someone to put down, joe bloggs is the majority in this country . this programme appears to aimed at the camillas of this world which is fine but not on peak viewing tv when normal families living in normal houses/flats etc are looking for entertainment.
I am asking myself why popular chefs like james martin. rick stein, and god forbid my hero kieth floyd, whom without, unfortunately dross like this would have not been possible to broadcast. floydy deseves better than this. that is not to say that i have no respect for the michelin chefs appearing on the programe, and i use the word programe with caution. i had been considering cancelling my sky subscription in favour of freeview but was told that uk food was not available, so for the time being i will keep sky. if uk food continues with dross like this i will most certainly cancel my sky subsciption. I wonder if my comments will be made available to sky without them having to log into this website. i dont think so
I think gordon ramsey must but be cringing in his kitchen i suppose he is grateful that when this program is broadcast, he is doing what he does best, cooking, a pity his wife doesnt stick to what she does best, cooking. all i can think is that borough market must have paid a fortune for the advertising and with thier backing we will be stuck with this tripe until the next century.

Can't agree more with the above comments. Wooden presenters reading from a badly put together autocue...cocky chefs like Bryn trying to be dead pally with his new best mate Matt (and what is he all about?). Condescending discussions with the public "Look at how great this is, now as a mere mortal incapable of boiling an egg, don't you dare criticise my cooking."
Only saving grace so far has been Matthew Fort, but I can't see him sticking around with chinless wonders like Tom 'Can't cook, butler cooks for me' Parker Bowles, unless the wages are too good to resist.
I have really tried to like market kitchen but I have almost given up hope. Tana has some decent easy ideas for the average housewife but she is out of her depth presenting. The show doesn't flow, it feels wooden and contrived. Bring back Jeni, isn't it about time the producers listened to the public.
Glad to see there is a general agreement on Market Kitchen! Have given it more than a chance but it really doesn't work!
I have to agree with the comments made about MK. Its really boring, has no lively atmosphere or interesting chat. Its full of snobs and is very patronising. Why is Mrs Ramsey there? She may well have wriiten some books but this is based on her husbands success. Gordon must be cringing! He would be the first to slate her if she wasn't his wife. Matthew is a boring wanabee presenter. I gave it a chance but it isn't a patch on Jenny & co, who had become friends you enjoyed tuning into. GET IT OFF and GFL back asap!!

The thing that bothers me most about this programme is that it trys to be so unbearably trendy with ticking all the buzzword boxes. If I here food miles or carbon foot print ine more time I may well do an Elvis and shoot the TV.
Oh and whats all this rubbish with putting the ingredients in cute little boxes and baskets then messing around having to take them out? Fo gods sake just have them on the counter
God it's so boring. What an awful programme.
How long will this rubbish continue to be aired?
How long will this post criticising the "holy grail" last?
Not long if previous posts are anything to go by.
Such a shame UKTV FOOD can not accept critiscism.

Arrrgh! Like another poster here the main reason i've still got sky is because of the food channel! If this garbage continues i may as well cancel my subscription! I have not seen a positive comment about the show so far! It's utter bilge and on for way too long! Everytime i tune in..it's on again! Bring back Jenny all is forgiven! Will i ever see any of my favourite chefs again? ?
This is tv at it's worst with amateur presenters. Take it away please and give us what we want!!
That's also why I originally got Sky, Maria. And at great expense. Now that they have essentially ruined the channel I'm seriously considering just cancelling it.
If they could only spice up their programming, I cannot stand this Market Kitchen show. It's utterly unwatchable. The master class section is anything but and they keep cooking with things that are best left in my opinion as road kill.
This is not a cooking show by any stretch of the imagination.
Boring? Good heavens what other show could present us with a foie gras, squirrel and rattlesnake terrine on a bed of chervil root and carrot tops??
Unwatchable? Compelling recipes!
That's painting a pretty picture, Micheline!!
Funny, Micheline!
But rattlesnake and squirrel aside, seriously, the recipes and food on the programme has been so uninspiring to me.
I rarely want to try a recipe I've seen on MK for some reason.
The dishes MAY be good, I can't say, but somehow the way they are presented/described or whatever seems to suck out any level of interest.
That's the point I was trying to make, bazza12, the recipes on this show are all so uninspiring. It started early on with that spate of various "fish pies" but has continued for the duration. Is it the chefs perhaps? Are they allowed free reign as to what they will cook? Maybe that's why there's so much of this samphire, chervil root and squirrel nonsense being aired of late.
I'll leave it to Ina Garten for inspiration, I guess. British food shows are getting worse and worse it seems.
Yes. I agree with those who see presenters as being there because of their family connections. Fort is basically boring and pretentious.
I find the whole program irritiating. I'm not a good cook but i like to have a go (and the children enjoy my efforts - they say). Yet, i 've seldom seen anything on MK that makes me want to have ago at the recipe.
If it's not broke, you shouldn't try to fix it.
I do the cooking too, and it would be nice if Market Kitchen could return to the type of cooking that people tend to do at home, like Great Food Live *generally* did. I'm finding it difficult to be enthused by the recent recipes MK have presented. I'm with victoria132, things have tended to become too "complicated" with recipes lately.
I agree. Some of the recipes shown recently are so complicated and complex or use such peculiar ingredients they are uninspiring to me. I'd never try them.
I've gotten over the dreadful presenters and poor camera and script, but now wonder why they've gone off on this tangent with the food?
Maybe I'm just too old and no longer understand what now passes for good food programming.
the only market i have is a supermarket!!!!!!!!!!!
but agree, they should simplify things-i never knew you could get such way out things like foie gras etc in a street market!!!!
tana sat the other night with a face which said to me-i cant wait to get out of here
Is the show not set up for ego trips of the presenters and chefs. And any one that has a new book out in the next week or so. Tana will come good in the end with the connections she has, most probably some little Bistro / cafe in Hospital road, Mathew will end up in something like Heat magazine with a food section. OOOOOps better go now
I'm afraid you've figured it out cheff. How transparent they are. Sickening really. The cancellation of GFL to be replaced with Market Kitchen made it so obvious.
Everything we see now, from politicians, to music "artists", to food programmes are just artificially manufactured by the media. Talent is no longer required.
Your predictions, by the way, are spot-on.
A bit harsh Vyvian, but I know what you are saying. I don't watch entire episodes of Market Kitchen, I just dip in and out but from what I've seen lately, Arthur is right. They really aren't showing anything of general interest that would make you want to try in your own kitchen. Just uninspiring, really.
Ahhh, but the Gods at UKTVFood are giving us a 2 week reprieve from this progamming abomination!!
Now THAT'S a real Christmas present! A Market-Kitchen-Free holiday!
