Dear all

My mistake. I've double checked and we have had series 1-3 on UKTV Drama. Unfortunately as I said it has done very poorly and will be taken off the channel once we've used the runs we have. The titles that have performed in daytime are Last of the Summer Wine, Murder She Wrote, You Rang M'Lord and Hetty Wainthropp and those will keep their place. We will continue to try out other classic titles such as Bergerac, Campion and Tenko and see how they do. All suggestions do get looked into and thanks for those you've sent in.

Regards

Richard

Hi Buster Bomb

I've done some research and I believe the track in question is:

Title: Full Force
CD: Epic Themes - Directors Cuts
Composer: John Powell
Publisher: Extreme Music

I don't know how easy it to get hold of.

Hi Hughie

No plans to go onto Freeview. Top Up is a possibility if they believed there was enough demand. I suggest registering your interest with them. You never know. We'll be sorry to lose you.

Hi Edward

Apologies, we are looking into this. We had a problem with this before and had instructed that it be fixed. However your experience suggests it hasn't been. I will get back to you as soon as I have an answer.

Hi there

We have just bought series 13, 14 and 15 for the first time on Drama so we are moving forward in time gradually! I believe there are 28 series altogether so that should keep us going.

Richard

Thank you for all your replies

The line-up for our "Classic Books" event in October will be Middlemarch, Tenant of Wildfell Hall, Moll Flanders, Scarlet & Black, Daniel Deronda and Persuasion.
I've written down a long list of your suggestions which I will be looking at to see if they could form part of an event or the regular schedule next year. In the mean time I hope you enjoy our Summer of Love which kicks off with North & South this Saturday (22nd July). This will be followed on successive weekends by Tipping the Velvet, Love in a Cold Climate, Love Story, Mrs Brown and Pride & Prejudice.

Regards

Richard

Hi there

Having looked into this there was a horrible mistake made in that it was broadcast with the final part repeated twice and the penulatimate part missed out altogether. Thanks for spotting this. We will be showing it properly (!) on successive Saturdays (17th and 24th June from 2100).

Regards

Richard

Hi Ang

It is on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. It will be back midweek later in the year. We saw audiences fall away as they got tired of it so it needs a bit of a rest.

Hi there

Allo Allo has attracted a good audience on UKTV Drama so we will be bringing it back. We haven't planned exactly when but it won't be any earlier than September.

Hi there

As a commercial company advertising revenue is a major reason that we can exist. The challenge is that we have to insert ad breaks into BBC programmes that were not designed to have them. Sometimes it will look clunky. In peak we have the shortest ad breaks in the UKTV network because we know that people don't want to lose the thread of a good story.

Dear all,

Thanks for your replies. The next big event for us is our Summer of Love which starts in July. We will be showing North and South, Tipping the Velvet, Love Story, Love In A Cold Climate, Mrs Brown and Pride & Prejudice.

In terms of the Bread query we have played series 1-5 out of 8 in their entirety 5 times on the channel although there have been some interruptions. There will be another run of those from 29th June at midday. It hasn't attracted a strong audience however so I can't promise that we'll buy it again.

Regards

Richard

Dear Princess

Unfortunately Casualty has only attracted a tiny audience on Drama so we have decided not to buy any more than the one series. As a whole our audience is not keen on soaps. If you check out our sister channel UKTV Gold you should find it there.

Dear all

Bad news I'm afraid. We had tiny audiences for the first 2 series of The Onedin Line and so we won't be buying any more. With classic dramas we often buy one or two series to see how it does before we buy more. With Poldark for example series one did well so we are looking to buy series 2 for 2007.

Richard

Dear all

All Creatures is only on Saturdays and Sundays now because we can see that viewers have got tired of it and so we are giving it a rest.
In terms of classic drama and comedy we've got the return of Down to Earth (21st June) Secret Army (26th June) Reggie Perrin and Butterflies (3rd July) and then Campion in August.

Regards

Richard

Dear Monts

We don't have them in stock for 2006 but there is a good chance we will re-buy them for 2007.

Hi there

I can't speak for Gold's plans but we are looking to buy series 1 and 2 of Bergerac for later in the year to show on UKTV Drama. I'll make a note to look into the feature lengths too.

We will look into the "Catherine Cookson: Tilly Trotter" issue and get back to you. It does sound odd.

Hi tomb raider

We've bought the whole of series 1 which has 16 episodes. We plan to show this in its entirety. If it does well we will buy the second series which has 13 episodes.

Thanks for your replies to date on this and the literary dramas. I've put them all into a long list which we will then use to order tapes to view them, check how they did in the past and find out who owns them these days. I'll be back in touch with news of what comes out of this.

Feel free to keep the suggestions coming.

Regards

Richard
