6: The indestructible truck

The Toyota Hilux pick-up truck has a reputation for strength and sturdiness. So naturally Clarkson took this as a challenge, and decided to torture it to death. What ensued was one of Top Gear's most compelling stunts, as Clarkson subjected the truck to a variety of terrible punishments. First he took it for a literal crash course around a city centre, bashing into things and driving down concrete steps ("It's damaged my spine quite badly, doing this," Clarkson commented). Then he drowned it by leaving it on a beach to get carried away by a tide. Then he dropped a caravan on it, set fire to it, and finally put it on the roof of a tower block which was demolished. Amazingly the truck didn't die, and was proudly driven into the studio to astonished applause.
