8: Radio controlled cars

You know those radio controlled cars we all inexplicably liked as kids? Now imagine a full-size, real car version. That's what scientists at Cranfield University created by rigging all kinds of wires and pedals and cogs to an unsuspecting motor, and they approached Top Gear to show their work off. Richard Hammond and James May duly decided to test drive the vehicle, taking turns to direct it using a controller while the other person sat in the back of the car itself. Hammond was understandably worried about being chauffeured around an obstacle course by a baffled-looking May, saying: "How did my life get me to this point, with this car, driven by him?"
