OK I was wrong, they didn't miss out any episodes coz they showed the pilot yesterday. Man the studio looked strange! The other set is miles better.
I played Whose Line (the game, not the entire show) with my friend the other night, we just wrote lines for each other, it's so so fun to play! And then we tried Hoedown, I managed to come up with one after a minute or so, but it is quite hard!
Lol at Tony for PM, imagine the cost of school lunches - "That'll be £2.50 please!" Wink

cost of lunches? more like wat kids are taught at school!!! Wink Wink Wink
also on colin's early episodes, HE HAD HAIR!!! Eek , and Clive had a bit as well, but not on his forehead...

here is a hoedown i came up with when a mate suggested smoking, please don't regurgitate at my songwritting,

"smoking is a dirty habbit
it's like sex as a rabbit
when i smoke it feels like my insides are cooking
and almost every time, i end up puking" (sp???!)

...sorry...

Here's one I made up on the Colin Mochrie forum (coz I'm cool) about having a pet:

We went and got our dog from a rescue home
She's a much better pet than a garden gnome
She is a lovely doggy, but we got her because
she was a tiny puppy, but now she's bigger than a bus!

Whoa, lots of action here! And lots of Sessions-esque rambling to reply. By the way, he did ramble over poor Archie Hahn in today's first episode, but Tony was absolutely marvellous! Archie also shone along with him in Sound Effects. I really really really really enjoyed that episode, and the one after it wasn't too bad either!

WhoseLineFan: Don't worry, I ramble too! And everyone here puts up with it :P

hannahjay: Hoedowns are difficult! You have to have the tune in your head so you can get the rhythm of the words right! Also, Whose Line-the-game is rather amusing when Ryan and Colin play it. However, I don't think we'll beseeing that until later series!

eejit1990: Ah yes, the days when everyone had more hair :D Good times! Also, in a very underrated 1993 sitcom named "Just a Gigolo", Tony played the lead character...a French teacher! He did learn French at Cambridge though, and thanks to watching him, I can now say one word in a real French accent! "la parapluie!" And also "sensuelle" and "sexuelle"...you can see why it's called Just a Gigolo. Although the person who says those two words is an older woman looking for an escort! You can find all the episodes on youtube, and I recommend watching it if you like Tony, it's extremely hilarious, and believe it or not, it's pretty tame when it comes to naughty things! Nice hoedown too- hoedowns bring out the songwriter in people! Big Grin

hannahjay: That studio depressed me, and no amount of Film and Theatre Styles could cheer me up when I saw it! I really do love the red and black standard set. Nice hoedown too!

Here's one I made earlier, on the Tony Slattery Fanbase forum (if you haven't figured it out already, yes, I am obsessed with Mr. Slattery!) It's the "Bad Breath" hoedown. See if you can spot where I'm inspired by Josie Lawrence's hoedowns!

My friend is a dentist,
he treats patients, you see
extractions, dentures, fillings,
with torturous glee,

but there is something he hates-
the worst case, he supposes,
is having to hover over
a patient with halitosis!

Haha loving the whole halitosis thing!
I think the easiest way to think up a hoedown is think what is funny about the subject, find something that rhymes with it, then bung another rhyming couplet on before that, the hard bit is you have to do it very very quickly!
Oh yeah, if you haven't already, you should check out Greg's standup. I was listening to Back in the UK again last night, I laughed my head off. That's probably the best recording to start off with, it's over 10 years old but still funny, quite intelligent and observant, hilarious bit about 'the Hope Valley' in the Sheffield bit. £8 on iTunes! There's also some free clips from Live in Houston on his website too, if you wanna try before you buy if you know what I mean.

You know what would be great? If there was a reunion of the whole cast! They should do a couple of shows and test to see if all the famous contestants can still improvise!!! I think especially: John Sessions, Josie Lawrence, Tony Slattery, Greg Proops, Colin Mocherie, Ryan Stiles, Mike McShane and Paul Merton, these are however my favourite, but yeah i would still enjoy seeing all the other contestants perform!! Big Grin Someone else who i would like to appear if there was a reunion would be, you all know who i'm going to say, Griff Rhys Jones!! Even though he was only in two episodes I found him really funny to watch and so i think he would do a good job!! Big Grin Big Grin

hannahjay: Thank you very much! Halitosis is interesting, though if you want to do a hoedown about it, make sure you compile a list of what rhymes with it, because only very specific words rhyme with it. You can then build around it :D I think I'd be worse at actually singing the hoedown, because when typing, it's slower than singing, so you have time to get an idea and make it all refined!
I've never thought to look on iTunes with anything connected to Whose Line, and I am now kicking myself! I might look into getting Greg's standup stuff, but I've been meaning to somehow nab Tony's singing from youtube using special programs, so that's a bit of a priority. I like the "if you know what I mean"! :D I'll look into that sometime.

Whose Line Fan: Of course! A 20th anniversary is a very good reason to have a reunion. I think that perhaps it would be interesting to include Griff Rhys Jones, and see how he does now. However, I wouldn't include any of the other 'guests'- comedians who only appeared in one or two episodes, because some of them were poor, like Ardal O'Hanlon, bless him! He can do comedy, but his improv skills were sorely lacking! And Russell Fletcher. I would like to see Rory McGrath and Stephen Fry also, because they were funny, even though they didn't feature in many episodes.
The ideal scenario for a reunion would be a small number of anniversary episodes- basically, Clive hosting, and four people in each episode. You would have all of the comedians, each in one episode. If it was done that way, it'd be more special and lasting than just one special episode, and you wouldn't have people like Josie complaining and refusing to do another series: it wouldn't be another series, it'd be a one-off. Maybe if we suggested it to Hat Trick Productions, and said that we'd like to see Jimmy Mulville, then they'd take that idea into account, since he is, I believe, a co-founder of Hat Trick.

I wish that Hat Trick Productions let people do work experience there, it'd be a really amazing opportunity Big Grin

SabukuSands, if you wanna try ripping audio from Youtube videos try www.zamzar.com (I hope that shows up!) and then to cut it so you hear just the singing part open it in iTunes, go onto File --> Get Info --> Options Tab and enter the start and end times in the audio that you want to cut out and keep, click OK and then in the Advanced tab at the top pick Convert to AAC and it should work!

Totally agree about Whose Line 20 years on, if they did 5 shows with 4 contestants on each that would be 20 contestants altogether to fit in with the 20 theme!
Contestants I think should feature would be (and I'm going to list 20 here, brace yourselves!): John Sessions, Stephen Fry, Josie Lawrence, Sandi Toksvig, Mike McShane, Ryan Stiles, Colin Mochrie, Steve Frost, Greg Proops, Brad Sherwood, Caroline Quentin, Tony Slattery, Chip Esten, Rory Bremner, Paul Merton, Jim Sweeney, Steve Steen, Wayne Brady and perhaps Phil LaMarr and Archie Hahn? Just trying to get a good mix of different improvisers. Smile

Oh, wow! Thank you very much for the help with that, now I won't have trouble finding out how to do that technological wizardry.

I agree with your choices, except that I'd prefer contestants from series 1-8, because I don't think that a lot of people have seen series 9-10! I think that it would be interesting to see Archie in it again. It would also be nice to see Chip, haven't seen him much on the US one.

I now have Tony on my iPod, which is wonderful! I now more or less know all the works.

eejit: I'm not going to be able to see Whose Line at 7pm tonight, since I'm out (which is atrocious!) Which episodes are on today? I think it must be the last two episodes of series 2- I really really need to see Tony as the Marquis de Sade, I've heard people raving about it. If it's on my DVD, I'll watch it over the weekend :D I do love Whose Line, and it cheered me up yesterday after a hellish day! Tony and Rory are amusing together, they end up giggling and just playing off each other Smile

Indeed, we are being spoiled! I will learn how to use my recorder one day.

Clive's rap was absolutely thrilling- he bobbed his head to the beat (lol!), and said it in a cool style :D And now we all know where the head-desk picture of Clive on the compilations come from :D Jim Sweeney was superb in his first appearance, which is quite impressive considering the amount of one-show wonders! But then, he was a Comedy Store Player, and Josie his co-Player was with him :D You can see where the games Psychiatrist and Helping Hands started, so now we know the history of the game! Did anyone think that 3x01 was quite musical compared to previous ones?

eejit: Fascinating schedule! I am loving the two hours of Whose Line on May 10th, and all the extra eps at the weekend. Sadly, can't see Whose Line tomorrow, but if I had Dave +1, I could. I wonder if I could talk my parents into getting it. Probably not :( Julian Clary was a bit poor when I last saw him, can't remember when!

eejit: It was the last compilation of series 2, I think! (I hope so, as if not, I can't see it on my DVD :() You could watch it on 4oD if you desperately want to see it (and I do recommend it, you should have heard what he said about fishing for trouts!) Helping Hands was very very different from what we know! I'm guessing they used 3x01 to test new musical games as they only had Rap and Musical. Then they'd probably go from there and use the ones that worked! I remember Tony singing in a Spanish accent in an ep a few days ago, it was rather exciting! His voice sounded all light, and cute, and it was the first time I'd seen him not singing in either an American accent or just his normal one (which is, of course, equally lovely!)

Yeah, you gotta love Jim and Steve. Jim had one of the best debuts I've seen.
As for Colin's, well.. Salmon Man explains it all!

eejit: Indeed! It was superbly superb. I'd say that the partnership between Jim and Steve was as good as the one between Ryan and Colin!

hannahjay: Best debut ever! But then again, I did enjoy Tony's debut (series 1, episode 1, when the camera looks over the audience, you can see him in it!) I haven't seen Colin's yet, I shall see it soon.

Am I just talking rubbish, or does Steve Steen really have a pretty decent voice? And go vote for Paul Merton on the Wit List in the Dave Lounge! :D

It's only on at the weekends for an hour, Saturday and Sunday, just in time to clash with primetime TV, so that parents/other household members will win a fight to watch something else. However, the first series are quite impressive (and they have an abundance of Tony Slattery :D), and we can see how games such as Helping Hands evolved.
Series 8 is good, but you don't get the variety of comedians that you had in the earlier series. That, and Tony isn't in Series 8 so it's not as fun to watch.

Tuesdays at 7pm, and Sundays at 8pm. thats when you'll catch it these days.

PS, is it just me or is Josie Lawrence hot?

That angers me! Angry But then again, it was on for a few hours last...Sunday, I think, but it was Series 8, so my Tony withdrawal just got worse. I am annoyed. I remember when it was on every weekday except Monday, two episodes a night *sigh* Those were the days.

Also, I don't know, because I'm female, and not attracted to other females :P But I think that she is good-looking. Besides, it's okay for you- Josie Lawrence hasn't aged a bit, she looks the same now as she did in about series 6 or 7, whereas people get on my case because I like Tony, and he's matured a bit!

Twas Series 9. I saw one from that the other week, had one of the funniest games of Animals I've ever seen, nearly as good as the dinosaur one. It was with sheep. Watch it if you can find it, I nearly died laughing.
