Room recipe video: New naturals bedroom

Style suggestion
- For a dash of modern-day romance, choose a sleek four-poster bed and dress it with smart drapes.
Soft, textured fabrics in earthy shades are the inspiration for this tranquil scheme. Furniture and accessories in natural materials complete the look, created and presented by Good Homes Assistant Editor, Robin Collingwood.
A Good Homes feature
-

Step 1: Walls
Begin by painting the walls taupe, which will warm the scheme. Here, a coordinating metallic-patterned wallpaper reflects light and brightens up the alcove.
-

Step 2: Floors
Now add texture with rugs. A large sisal rug fills the main space, while a smaller black and white rug makes an eye-catching feature in front of the bed.
-

Step 3: Windows
For a luxurious look, use a heavily woven fabric for the curtains, which won’t need lining, combined with voile panels instead of traditional nets.
-

Step 4: Furniture
Use a mix of dark wood and unfinished reclaimed teak for an eclectic feel. The deep tones of the wood stop the colour scheme looking too bland.
-

Step 5: Accessories
Finally, pile the bed up with cushions and throws. Linen and organic cotton bed linen, wool throws and velvet cushions add a tactile finish.
