Meet Linda Barker

Born a Yorkshire lass, Linda trained as a fine art student at West Surrey College of Art and Design before moving on to the world of interior design.

In 1987 she bought a one-bedroom flat in Battersea which she decorated it in apricots and oranges (colours that make her shudder now!) It was soon being photographed by House Beautiful and within no time she was writing features for leading interior design and women's magazines.

Her TV career began in 1994 with an appearance on BBC's Home Front. The following year, she teamed up with Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen and made the pilot for a new programme called Changing Rooms. Fourteen series later and the rest, as they say, is history! Slots on House Invaders, Planet Christmas and guest appearances on countless TV shows were swift to follow.

2003 saw a determined publicity drive when Linda donned her Lara Croft combats for the second series of 'I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here'. She survived fourteen days in the jungle and came in a respectable third place. Lucrative contracts were signed soon after and Linda was soon gracing most ad breaks as the face of either DFS or Currys.

Not one to rest on her laurels, she recently launched really linda barker, a mail order business selling furniture, accessories and soft furnishings.

Alongside her broadcasting commitments, Linda is an avid writer and pens the interior design pages for the weekend Daily Express Magazine. Three Changing Rooms books are among the stack of publications which have notched up over one million sales around the world.

No stranger to primetime TV we've recently seen Linda disciplining her dachshund Tiger Lilly in Celebrity Dog School. She was honoured with the red book in This Is Your Life and hosted ITV's Building the Dream series. And she's currently co-hosting UKTV's Christmas Live with Jeni Barnett. You go girl!

Possessed with good looks and effortless style Linda is indisputably the UK's makeover maestro. We salute you!
