Transforming a hallway: Part 1 - how to put up plasterboard

DIY expert Craig Phillips demonstrates how to makeover a hallway. This easy to follow step by step explains how to add plasterboard to a brick wall.
-

Step 1: Measure the area
Measure up the area that you need to cover and using a knife, score the plasterboard until it cuts.
-

Step 2: Apply the adhesive
Before applying the glue, apply water to the back of the board and to the wall using a paintbrush. This will prevent the glue from drying too quickly. Then apply the glue in small strips down the length of the board. Line it up to the wall, ensuring the sides are flush and gently hold it in position for 1 minute to give the glue a chance to hold.
-

Step 3: Fit the trim
Once the plasterboard is glued on, it is time to fit the trim to the corners. Attach the trim with a staple gun, making sure it runs the whole length of the plasterboard.
-

Step 4: Fill the edges
Using a spatula, smooth the edges over with filler. When this is dry it can be sanded down to create the smoothest edge possible.
