DIY expert Craig Phillips demonstrates how to lay decking in your garden.
This easy to follow guide takes you through the second part of the project – screwing down the planks.
-

Step 1: Cut planks to size
If you're decking a small area, you can use a hand saw to cut your planks. However, if you're decking a large area it is advisable to use a circular saw as this will save you time. Wearing safety googles, measure your planks and carefully cut them to size.
-

Step 2: Fit spacers
When you are putting your planks into place, fit spacers in between them to ensure the gaps between each plank are the same across the entire decked area.
-

Step 3: Secure the planks into place
Using a hand drill, drill two holes through the ends of each plank and then place a screw in the holes, screwing them down into place so that each plank is completely secure.
