How to create a boutique bedroom panelled headboard

You will need...
-
MDF
- Pre-cut, 2 length beading
- Hammer
- Panel pins
- Glue
- Paint brush
- Paint
A statement headboard can add a focal point to an otherwise plain room but they can be expensive. But with just one sheet of MDF and a few lengths of beading, you can create your own feature headboard from scratch!
-

Step 1: Mark out three panels
Carefully measure and mark out three evenly spaced panels onto your sheet of MDF.
-

Step 2: Glue the beading into place
Glue and nail the pre-cut beading into place. However, be careful not to hit the panel pins all the way through the wood as they are only there to hold it in place temporarily and will be removed once the glue is dry.
-

Step 3: Paint the panels
Start by painting the beading, followed by the flat vertical panels and finally the top and bottom horizontal lengths. This will give the effect of one solid piece of wood.
