Large prints or paintings can be an expensive investment. However, for a unique piece – which can be made to suit your budget – create your own artwork by making a wooden frame and attaching a piece of colourful fabric to it.
Following these instructions will create a 60cm square canvas, but you can adapt the measurements to create whatever size you like.
Time to complete job: 1 hour
Approximate budget: From £5, depending on the cost of your fabric
-

Step one
Take four lengths of wood, each measuring about 60cm. Nail the corners of the planks together to create the frame.
-

Step two
Reinforce each corner of the frame with triangular-shaped pieces of wood. This will also give you a good base to staple the fabric to.
-

Step three
Cut a large square of fabric that is around 30cm bigger than the wooden frame. Pull it tight into one corner and staple it down. Work around the remaining corners in turn.
