Buying in Pembrokeshire

Buyer's tips
-
Planning controls are tight in Britain's only Coastal National Park, so demand for homes with a sea view outstrips supply
- A property with a sea view may cost as much as £50k more than one without.
- The current economic climate means people are selling off holiday homes and may take offers, especially from cash buyers.
The buyers: Peter and Tracey
Peter and Tracey are already renting in Pembrokeshire. They moved there to be nearer Peter's new job supervising Haverfordwest Airport, but have decided they like it so much, they want to settle down.
Their house in Devon is on the market and they're looking for the property that will become a dream family home for them and their two children, Freya and Luke.
Why Pembrokeshire?
No other county in the UK has more blue flag beaches or seaside awards than Pembrokeshire and with over 50 beaches to choose from, it's a great holiday home location and a magnet for young families looking for a better quality of life.
There are numerous picturesque fishing villages and seaside towns along this stretch, from Angle, a conservation area with many medieval buildings and an award-winning beach to the town of Milford Haven with its fine Georgian houses.
There's a thriving arts and crafts industry in Pembrokeshire, with photographers, artists, film makers and musicians coming in their droves for the light, the sea, the weather and the peace.
Its beaches have plenty of appeal for fans of watersports too. From sailing to sea kayaking and surfing, you can do it all. Try paddleboarding – like surfing but with a paddle. Learners had for Solva where the water is sheltered and calm. The local company Big Blue Kite Surfing will get you up to speed.
If that's not enough adrenaline for you, how about coasteering? This involves climbing, swimming and cliff jumping around the rocky coastline. With cliffs, caves, swells and waves, you don't get more up close and personal to nature than this!
