  • Head for charity shops and second hand stores.
  • Focus! It’s less about one-off show stoppers and more about small, simple items simply grouped, so view each item as part of your collection keeping your colour scheme in the forefront of your mind.
  • Get hands on. You’re unlikely to find the perfect finished item so look out for items you can customise, like frames from old paintings or fabric from old clothes that can be used as cushion covers.
  • Cut glass pieces can really add sparkle to a room, and classic white and cream china items help to build depth to the flat whites and pastels associated with the shabby chic interior.
