About the show

In decline since the 1960s when the tin mining industry closed down, Portreath’s survival depends on tourism. But competition is tough with Padstow and Rock, its two trendier neighbours claiming the majority of visitors. And, to make things harder, storms earlier this year devastated the town and damaged The Park, the one area which the entire village could use.
But Portreath has an indomitable community spirit. Local young mums have led the campaign to restore this vital village area – somewhere for both the young and old to congregate. Despite their best efforts, the funds raised are woefully inadequate and the challenge insurmountable – creating a kids’ park alone will use up all the funds the community has.
This is where Ty comes in. Ty will need to rally the community representatives and come up with a design that enables the entire village to make use of The Park. It needs a playpark, a new football pitch, seating area for the mums, and a store full of the latest sports equipment. Not only that but The Park must be fully funded and built in an aesthetic and environmentally friendly way, all within one week.
Ty Pennington's Great British Adventure sees Ty what he does best – surprising deserving local people who have volunteered to help but who deserve recognition and reward. But in this fantastic challenge we've set out before him, can Ty deliver?
