Designer profile: SUCK UK

Famous for out-there, funky design, SUCK UK is the brand created by Sam Hurt and Jude Biddulph that's already won shedloads of awards since they first set up shop on their north London kitchen floor back in 1999.
Making stuff for 'no one in particular', their backgrounds as product designers - they trained at Central Saint Martins - meant that they knew lots about the processes and materials they were working with. It also helped them to think outside of the box and come up with cheap, elegant products.
At the start, they both still had day jobs and they slaved away on their labour of love through the night. They used whatever they could get their hands on and took great delight in cannibalising other people's products to create something entirely different.
Fast forward eight years and SUCK UK design is the star of more than Colin & Justin's Home Show - their iconic Union Flag coffee table nearly stole the thunder from the twinkle-toed participants of Fame Academy. Their products have won them numerous awards (including the prestigious Best in Show at MODE and a Prince's Trust Award) and can be found adorning many a big department store and they continue to undertake design consultancy work for clients such as Levis, Speedo, Audi and Lucky Strike.
