Extreme Makeover: Cox Family

Man of the cloth John Cox has spent the last ten years travelling America working with young people. Now in the permanent position of youth minister, he and his family were finally able to get a foot on the property ladder. Their first home is a ramshackle single-storey affair with low ceilings and 'stucco yucco' render. In short, it's horrible.

Extreme Makeover: Cox Family

The Cox family is passionate about country music and they love nothing more than an impromptu family jam with John on guitar, mum Wendy on drums and the kids freestylin'. Alas they have little chance to practice as their home can barely accommodate their instruments.

With notoriously highly-strung Constance in charge of design and planning we suspect that sparks may fly. And it doesn't take long. She soon reveals her megalomaniac streak when she refuses to let Tracey work on her 'diva dressing room' design for the younger girls' bedroom. It doesn't go unnoticed by Michael who quips: 'she's not a decorator, she's running amok!'

Elsewhere Michael, Preston and Paul are hard at work designing Shayna's skateboard-themed bedroom, complete with half-pipe bed and graffiti art. Outside Ty is busy creating his dubiously-titled 'Tyland beach', complete with pool, barbeque, spa and surfboard chairs.

Progress on converting the garage into a sound studio is slow, which results in another Constance flare-up, this time with the sleep-deprived Paul who certainly gives as good as he gets. But it's all smiles when they add the finishing touch, a gold disc from singer LeAnn Rymes.

The family return from their week's vacation at Disneyland Orlando and are bowled over by the transformation. Tracey and Constance's fluffy boudoir with closet full of dressing-up clothes leaves Hannah and Nicole speechless, but the best bit is LeAnn Rymes singing Amazing Grace with little Hannah at her side. Ahhh....
