Step 1: Collect your equipment

You will need a lace doily, a smooth glass or plastic bowl with a flat base (like a Pyrex dish), a paint brush, some PVC and some spray paint (optional). You can buy the glue and paint brush from any craft shop, art shop or good stationers. Lace mats can be picked up in charity shops, antique markets or car boot sales. Choose round shaped mats for round bowls or square and rectangular ones for trays.
