Strip it in a day
If your floorboards are in good condition (with little or no gaps between the boards or patched pieces), stripping your floorboards is easier than you think. Hire a sander for the weekend from your local HSS hire shop, buy plenty of sanding sheets, hammer down any loose nails and set to work. Clear the room first to make the job easier, then sand following the grain of the floorboards. Once sanded, wipe the boards over with white spirit to remove any dust particles, then protect with a coat of quick-drying clear varnish.
