Stitch it in three hours
Make these simple blinds in no time from a remnant of fabric. Simply cut a rectangle of fabric the width of your window and length you require. Cut a piece of lining to match – right sides together – stitch down one long side along the bottom and up the other side, turn through and press. Along the top edge turn a narrow hem to wrong side and stitch, then attach one strip of self-adhesive tape to the top of the blind and one to the window frame and fix. For workable blinds, make them the length of your window and then attach a cord to both sides, 10cm from each end of the blind's top edge, so you can roll up and secure the blind at the chosen height by tying a bow at the bottom.
