Cover up wear and tear on your walls and turn bare floors into works of art with these simple decorating tricks.

Floor stencilling

If your painted floors are uneven, cover up the surface with a painted stencil. We masked off a rectangle to give an effect of a trompe l’oeil rug and added pretty painted butterflies using a stencil. Quick drying floor paint, International Paints. Stencils, available from art suppliers.
