  • Top 3: Statement lighting

    Nov 11, 2011

With the nights drawing in, there is no better time to start thinking about lighting your home and with some of our favourite shops offering gorgeous statement lights for our homes, we’re spoilt for choice!

Lighting can set the atmosphere of a room and is an important, but often overlooked, element of any design scheme. We’re smitten with so many of this year's autumn/winter lighting offerings but here are our favourites.

Oh, and if Father Christmas is reading this, we’ve been good all year and the Graham&Green bird cage chandelier is top of my Christmas wishlist...

We love this industrial pendant shade from Rockett St George. Perfect for kitchens that need that added edge.

For vintage and country design schemes, there’s nothing cuter than this teacup lamp from Next. Its delicate, feminine design means it will look great in a living room or a bedroom.

  • Top 5 - Statement cushions

    Sep 06, 2011

We’re a sucker for a good cushion and luckily for us, the shops are full to the brim with some amazing decorative offers. Check out five of our favourites…

    This stag cushion from Next
(£12) is great for taking you through to the winter months and working the upcoming alpine trend into your existing scheme.

Carrying on the animal theme, this menagerie cushion from House of Fraser (£40) has us banishing the winter blues with jewel brights and jungle imagery.

Ben de Lisi Home for Debenhams is great for quirky printed cushions but the telephone and typewriter prints (£18 each) are our firm favourites.

We love this vibrant peacock print cushion from Next (£16) and with deep turquoise and magenta shades, it’ll add a much needed burst of colour to a neutral colour scheme this winter.

We love this bird print cushion from Habitat. The zesty background colour contrasts perfectly with the more traditional bird illustration which makes up the bold print. This would make a great accent cushion within a grey colour scheme.

Whether you choose animal prints, text or bold patterns, a decorative cushion is the perfect and affordable way to update your home in an instant!
