WALES Caerphilly Castle
Begun in 1268, Caerphilly Castle was at the cutting edge of military technology when it was built. It was the first truly concentric castle in Britain and its water defences were some of the most formidable in Europe. So it's an ideal place to get to grips with what military life was like in the 14th century. Easter weekend activities include the firing of a medieval siege engine. When: March 23-24 Tel: 029 2088 3143.
