Sir David Attenborough helped curate this colourful and compelling collection of natural history illustrations created while much the world was still new to Western civilisation. Drawn from the Royal Collection and on display at the Queen's Gallery, Buckingham Palace, until September, Amazing Rare Things includes delicate plant studies by Leonardo da Vinci and vibrant images of Caribbean flora and fauna by 18th-century British artist Mark Catesby.When: opens March 14 Tel: 020 7766 7300.

LONDON Imperial War Museum
Getting the message across is never more important for governments than when they're at war. In Weapons of Mass Communication: War Posters, the Imperial War Museum has brought together hundreds of iconic posters by some of greatest exponents of the art.
