Sturmbannführer Ludwig Kessler
Sinister Gestapo man Kessler has one mission, as instructed directly by Nazi High Command in Berlin: to find and crush the evasion line in Belgium once and for all. Fiercely loyal to the Fuhrer. Kessler often falls out even with his fellow Luftwaffe colleagues.
Played by Clifford Rose
Classically trained Rose studied at King's College London, before appearing in repertory theatre and with the Royal Shakespeare Company. After Secret Army, Rose went on to reprise his role as Nazi Kessler in the eponymous sequel series. He also played leading roles in Alan Bleasdale's drama GBH, Fortunes of War and TV film Wallis and Edward, in which he played King George V. He can also be spotted in classic Doctor Who episode Warriors' Gate as Rorvik.Back to Secret Army – cast and characters
