Long Live the King
On 18th July 1953 Elvis Presley walked into Sun Studios in Memphis to record two tracks as a present for his mother Gladys. In January the next year, he recorded That's All Right Mama, which became his first single. A couple of years later he had his breakthrough with the single Heartbreak Hotel which went to number one in the US and sold over 1 million copies.
Elvis went on to have 40 US top ten singles, including 18 at number one, make 33 movies and sell over one billion records - more than anyone in record industry history. This photo was taken in around 1956 during a recording session for RCA.
