Infamous Assassinations: Profiles 1953 - 1995 John F. Kennedy

Who was he? The 35th president of the United States.

When was he assassinated? November 22, 1963.

Where was he assassinated? Dallas, Texas.

Who did it? Lee Harvey Oswald, a drifter fascinated with communism.

Why? We shall probably never know because, two days after Kennedy's assassination, a nightclub owner named Jack Ruby shot Oswald dead while the police were moving him.

What happened? Kennedy was travelling in a motorcade in the centre of Dallas when Oswald fired three shots with a long-range rifle, fatally wounding Kennedy.

What was the consequence? The most enduring legacy of Kennedy's assassination has been the number of conspiracy theories attached to it. Convinced that Oswald wasn't acting alone, various theorists allege that the CIA, the Mafia, the Soviet Union, Cuba or Israel orchestrated Kennedy's death.
