Dallas arrives on UKTV Gold

Thu 26 Apr 2007, 11.08AM

Dallas Fan

Thanks so much to UKTV GOLD for airing the world-famous super soap DALLAS again - one of the most popular dramas/soaps in TV history.

I'm really glad there will be a DALLAS "catch-up" on weekends.

I would like to ask if UKTV Gold has plans to air all 14 seasons of DALLAS? In the USA SOAPnet airs all 14 seasons and have done several times now.

I'd like to add that when DALLAS was first broadcast, it was number one in the TV ratings for several years in many countries, including the U.K. and U.S.A. DALLAS was a huge success, and I still remember when the whole world was asking "WHO SHOT J.R.?" !

If you have never watched DALLAS, give it a try and you'll get hooked - just like the many hundreds of millions of people have in the past world-wide.

Hi there - Dallas is taking a temporary break during August. The show will be back at the start of September. Apologies for any confusion caused.

Angry I'm at home convalescing after a major op and return to work in September. Sadly you have whipped Dallas off, mid season, without any warning and I will miss the rest. Maybe I'm wrong but I thought it was originally billed as being shown complete from start to finish. Is there a valid reason for this descision such as you don't actually have the episodes in your possession. I imagine it must be something like this as no one in there right mind would cut off a show mid season and replace it with something of an entirely different genre which is already much repeated on other channels. I'm boycotting UKTV till Dallas is reinstated and would encourage other fans to do the same.

Have been addicted to Dallas since it started the re-runs. Have set the skyplus recorder to watch in the evening -but was surprised to see it was not there - and came on this site to find out more and reasons why. Can you advise when the next episode is - don't want to miss that one. PS... WON'T be watching Dr Who in its place! Mad

Confused

I'm with Joycey! I'm in exactly the same position, slipped a disc in my back in April and have been off work since, hoping to go back in September. Dallas was the highlight of my otherwise miserable day!!! How can you do this to us! 3 hours on a weekend morning is not the same as a daily fix. I think this has been a very bad decision, and I also don't want to watch Doctor Who etc. Dallas is the only American soap being shown anywhere on the network as far as I am aware, and as us Dallas fans all know, it's a million miles better than any of them anyway! Please bring it back midweek asap!

;D Check out www.find-dvd.co.uk. They have every series at fairly reasonable prices in case anyone can't make it to September!

Myself and my partner absolutely love Dallas, and look forward to coming home during the week to watch the 6pm showing, only to find that you moved the time slot to the weekends, of which we both work!!
Why have you done this? this is by far the best thing on TV at the moment. Please bring it back to weekdays, plleeeeeeeeeeeeeasese, otherwise we will have to go out and buy the boxsets...... Cry Cry

Myself and boyfriend rush home every night to watch the 6pm Dallas. It is even better than I first remember it. We can't believe you have stopped showing this in the week. We are so upset by this, as we both work weekends. Why have you done this to us, please, please put this back on during the week! It is the only thing worth watching on TV..............please!!

I am impressed to see the level of upset regarding the removal of Dallas. I watched it as a young adult in the late 70's and early 80's but missed most of the episodes due to working around the clock. Two years ago our local tv station RTE showed 1 of the series and they too removed it from showing with no notice. I was devasted then as I was working from home and work always stopped when Dallas started and nobody was allowed to speak while it was on..! Now UKTV have done the same, and it is so disappointing, I could not believe it when I tried to auto show all episodes for the coming week just to see it was not available..... absolutely disgusted and beginning to suffer withdrawal symptoms already.... Please bring JR and the gang back ASAP...! Confused

....and I agree with Joycey, an all out boycott of UKTV Gold should be called for because of the unthoughtful way Dallas fans have been treated...! Angry

Angry Confused

I am not afraid to admit that my wife has converted me! She is an absolute Dallas addict and has been complaining non-stop since she discovered yesterday that it is no longer on during the week. I could hear her upstairs shouting at the tv.

I too love the show and would sit with her and watch it in between work. I think all us guys admire ol' JR! I think you'll have lost a lot of viewers because of this. I realise it's still on at the weekend, but there's no way most people have the time to spend 3 hours watching tv in one go! Especially if they have children who insist on watching cartoons tec. I'll probably now have to go out and get Sky Multiroom so we can watch it somewhere else in the house, but even then we'll be interupted every 5 mins. At least with it being on 4 times during the day you knew there would at least be one time you could watch it.

Please make us Dallas fans happy and bring it back next week on weekdays! You've have enough responses to justify doing this, and that's just the people who know they can email you, there must be thousands more that are very disappointed.

Please listen to your viewers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a relief it is coming back.. I don't know what posessed you to stop it for August anyway....!!! We will be back viewing UKTV then and only then.

We are with Joycey!! I hope you don't skip any episodes UKTV, as avid fans are, and I am sure everyone who has put a message on this board will know exactly where we left off!! We will be waiting......

Tue 7 Aug 2007, 4.53PM

Joycey1

I don't think they will listen, I posted 3 emails yesterday( one of which has disappeared) asking why it had been prematurely axed and noone has bothered to reply on this forum, which is a big bit pants!! I'm housebound just now and it was something to look forward to. Admitedlly I am starting to feel like some kind of web stalker, but I really miss it and don't see why they can't make a lot of viewers happy by returning it to weekdays a.s.a.p.

Tue 7 Aug 2007, 4.56PM

sallyb2

Come on guys, sort this out.... any one out there, please send your messages in... Joycey... don't worry I feel like a web stalker too.
Bring back Dallas to weekdays!!!!! Bring back Dallas to weekdays !!! Bring back Dallas to weekdays!!!

Come on David R UKTV Gold..... where are ye..? Anger has subsided to bemusement, for me, at the level of disappointed Dallas fans, theres no point in allowing ourselves to be annoyed but you would surely lift the spirits of a lot of fans if you put it back on soonest.... Maybe you can explain the logic behind its removal.... or is this a deliberate attempt to start a Dallas Revolution...! Tongue Make us happy and we will sing your praises and maybe Sky will get more subscriptions, in the meantime I do not think you are doing yourselves any favours... what I thought was good value for money in paying Sky, I have second thoughts about that now. And anybody thinking of paying more for multiroom, please think again, that is probably what they would like you to do...!

I also support my beloved Dallas returning to its weekday slot. David UKTV yes, you should reply to what people are asking. You did before, come on.
Remember folks - the Ultimate Dallas website has lots and lots of folk just like us...all saying the same thing. They also have been pressing for Dallas's return.
I can wait - as i feel i have no choice but this channel should take note of its viewers demand and comment to them. No comment, is just plain ignorance.

David R - UKTV

Arrghhh! Don't know what to say. The channel wanted to showcase comedy during August daytime. Do appreciate the feedback and have let the channel know about the strong response from you guys. I don't think they'll be moving Dallas back until September though - can you hang on??????

Tue 7 Aug 2007, 7.55PM

Joycey1

Good to hear from you David R, but I honestly think they must reconsider and showcase the comedy at a more appropriate time. What say you guys? Our points are all very valid, and circumstances will have changed for many of us by September making it difficult to pick up where we left off. I reckon we all say no we can't hang on and continue our rebellion!!

Ok well I'm definitely in..! We pay our TV licences, we pay our sky subscriptions and companies make millions in revenue because we contribute sometimes more than we should, thats why they declare the profits while we become disappointed. The point has already been made that there is little on tv that gives us a fair degree of satisfaction. Dallas to me is actually one of those things and I AM NOT ASHAMED TO SAY THAT..! The plots and sub plots beat those other dry soaps hands down, and Larry Hagman has already been recognised as the king of soaps without argument. It is a quality show when you have the opportunity to follow it episode by episode and being able to catch up on missed shows at different stages of the day is what really makes tv worth it. Well done UKTV for this innovative approach but seriously, shame on you for disappointing your viewers without prior warning and quite harshly. As already said you are not doing yourselves any favours.

Ok, so you will probably be saying just a handfull of people will be disappointed and who cares, but that handfull of people are the ones that can determine at the end of the day whether you reach your profit margins or not. We think we have been stolen from at a point when we were really looking forward to the next stage in the JR game. Think about it....! If you had done this at the end of the episode where JR was shot it would have been perfect...! The craic would have been superb and your break inline with the story. Come on now, PUT IT BACK AS SUDDENLY AS YOU TOOK IT AWAY... We deserve it. Blurgh
