When I first put a thread on here I said about seeing more of Foggy But I did not anticipate this many with most of them repeated almost weekly, there are plenty more episodes made with Truly and specials at Christmas, please change the system and let us staunch LOTSW addicts see something different.

Series numbering has indeed always been a vexed topic ever since that Series #9. I had no idea that it was an issue until the so-called Series #9 and #10 DVD came out containing only what all the references designate as Series# 9. And I have seen in many instances the BBC, particularly through Radio Times, using the standard references numbering system.

No matter, lovely lad or lovely lady, whichever the case might be, and at my age it is somewhat irrelevant, you fill our ancient hearts with joy with your news of the goodies to come however they might be designated.

Confused By eck folks!! I thought we had started running out of steam a bit(it had been quiet for a few days) then we get this flurry of good news! Herself is quite excited with the new episodes so do's not mind settling down to watch them with me.Not having them on dvd gives me chance to see them 'as new' so to speak so i can put the info on the calendar and make sure i catch them as and when they appear. Big Grin Big Grin (pity the pixie lady cant watch them as we can!)

Well, Uncles, I can only apologise for not being in more contact with you. The new eps of Last of the Summer Wine have been a huge hit and I hope you'll be catching the pilot episode on Monday.

Sadly we have no control over the release of these shows on DVD. That's something you'll have to take up with BBC Worldwide!

As for what series we think we're showing, we're adamant it's 21-25! But BigUnc thinks otherwise. The mis-ordering (and original miss-billing) stems from the fact that Series 9 and 10 were jammed together to make one, 12-episode series. We still count them as two separate series whereas the likes of Wikipedia and IMDB call it as one. So all subsequent series are out by one, and we seem to think we're a series ahead of you.

Confusing and, if I may say so myself, tedious.

We'll have Series 26-30 (in new money, 25-29 in old money) next year.

in addition to the good news, BigUnc, it is nice to have confirmation that our ramblings are read by the Powers That Be. I think I am right in saying that apart from a brief communication from the Mighty Jen this is first contact with the alien culture controlling our heros. Who knows? They might have influence in producing the DVDs, which would b a very good thing (hint, hint)

Even if this is a bit garbled it is great news! We all know they are referring to Series #20 to #24 inclusive and not #21 to #25 and that it is Series #22 not #23 that was missed out but no matter. It will come along in November.

It is great to get the news about Specials in December following on from "Extra! Extra!" in November. And more series in 2010 adds to anticipation. As G & S would say, "Oh Joy, Oh Rapture"

Hi all,

There have been a few Last of the Summer Wine anomolies of late. We have always intended to show series 21 to 25 this autumn but a few hitches made this a bit complicated.

Our listings were one series off, in other words Series 21 was billed as Series 20. We have corrected that.

Another hitch was the delay in hetting Series 23. So our new series on weeknights in November have been 21, 22, 24 and 25. We have now secured 23 and will show them from Sunday 8th November at 19:00, continuing on Saturdays and Sundays 19:00-21:00 (against that blasted X-Factor!)

We also have a selection of Christmas Specials in December (when we really crank up the specials) from 1990-2001.

Apologies for the hitches but we got there in the end!

Next year we;ll have further series of LOSW on GOLD. Stay tuned!

You can see the PILOT episode of LOSW and Series 1 on MONDAY 2nd NOVEMBER at 8am and 12:40pm.

Thanks!

Morning all!!! Hug Hug Hug

Don't know how but the PBS that used to run our beloved LOSW, actually got hold of the pilot...and I'm so glad I have it on tape. But the dvd's I borrowed from the library skipped past it. Have been apprised of a prob with the Royal Mail...hope it is resolved and does not affect delivery of my current dvd order. Frown

Yesterday, Vicki and I rode to Richmond for the Celtic Festival. We have been several times in the past and also to the Scottish Festivals as well. We usually get fish and chips but nothing is at it is across The Pond...ever! But we keep hoping someday. Frown

I haven't as yet made fig rolls (they are made with dried figs) but I have made Cornish Pasties from the cookbook I brought back. As they baked, I felt I was in a pasty shop!!! Smile I gave Vicki two to take away as she dropped m off but haven't spoken to her to get the verdict.

Must off... Hug Hug Hug

Hi, folks...

If Big Unc's perusals on Wikipedia prove to be accurate, and Series #18 (#19)is scheduled for DVD release with a Special and 25 Years..., would it not be a great idea to add the Pilot Episode 'Of Funerals & Fish', currently unavailable on DVD, as a bonus release - there should be enough disk space, and it would tie in with the 25 Years anniversary programme. What do other Winos think??

Just received notification that latest DVD has been sent to me, estimated delivery 3-5 days, postal strike permitting of course. Let us hope there is some news of the next release soon.

No stutter, Eccles, for some obscure reason after pressing "send" the computer suddenly shunted me back to "preview" so the process got repeated. I hate technology, bring back the quill!!!

Regardless of blame for earlier misunderstandings, it's good news indeed that series 22 is coming. I don't know whether Gold have the Christmas Special "Last post and pigeon" but being the last "special" Bill Owen made, it would be a nice touch if it could be transmitted soon to accompany his other last programmes of series 21 already transmitted - please?

Something I read (in Wikipedia but I do not know how authoritative it is) suggests that in 2010 we might get a DVD set with Series#18 (ten episodes, probably labelled #19), one Special ("Extra! Extra!")????? plus "25 Years of Last of the Summer Wine". By my calculations it will not quite reach "There goes the Groom".

That will follow DVD set with Series #16 & #17 (labelled #17 & #18) plus two? Specials.

Interesting note in Radio Times, in answer to a complaint about missing Elegy to fallen wellies due to incorrect scheduling. "An error in Gold's scheduling system meant our listings had previously fallen out of sync. Gold's spokeswoman asks us to pass on the channel's apologies to Summer Wine fans". I don't feel inclined to accept that apology, I would prefer a public execution of the technician to blame, or, if that isn't harsh enough, at least three hours on the naughty step.

Calm down, BigUnc. If life was simple and GOLD logical you would have nothing to vent your spleen on and we would be deprived of your erudite vituperation. And look at the mess you have made, spraying figgy roll crumbs all down your weskit. Why don't you try some of the new Jaffa cakes with the fruits of the forest filling? Very tasty and don't make half the crumbs.

The ways of G.O.L.D continue to be a mystery!

First they told us they were going to broadcast Series #21 to #24 which meant Series #20 was going to be missed. Then they seemed to realise the error of their ways and over the past two weeks transmitted Series#20 and Series #21. Very logical.

This week, however, back to the bizarre. The two episodes put out today are not the logical Series #22 but they have jumped to Series#23.

SO WHEN WILL WE SEE SERIES #22?

Why can't life be simple?

Well, I don't know about you lot but watching 'Elegy For Fallen Wellies' again tonight really brought a tear to my eye and my hamster died today as well Frown
I found it very touching watching the actors, some of whom had worked with Bill for many, many years. Oh well, rest in peace Bill (and wee hamster)

Hello Famous Eccles!

Yes, I know about Nora Batty's home. I know it gets rented out...and I have been on her porch! But when the photo Vicki took on my camera was developed, my head was missing! I meant to redo that last time we were there but we didn't have much time. I did go through the museum that was Compo's home. And we did have a bite at Sid's Cafe. I thought about her home and also the place Bill Owen actually stayed in when they were filming! I would be thrilled either way. When I use my yard brush on my steps, I think fondly of Nora. Smile

We traveled around alot in Cornwall and the Lake District this past trip in May...fantastic! Smile Hoping for more travel someday... Hug Hug Hug

Big Grin Pixie lady i have never been to London so cannot tell you a thing about the place .We mostly holiday in Cornwall (occasionally Scotland) although we did get to Malta once! The point i wish to make is that my paper(The Mail on Sunday)did an article about a man who rents out NORAH BATTYS house for people to holiday there. He makes £25,000 a year and keeps it in the sort of order that NORAH kept it. He has often had Americans staying there and says that the visitors even enjoyed buckets on the stairs when the roof leaked once!! Added to the atmosphere.! The only problem was they did not give a contact address in the article but i assume it should be online somewhere. I hope this may be of interest to you should you decide to base yourself in HOLMFIRTH on one of your visits. Big Grin
