Keeping Up Appearances

Hyacinth can get very annoying at times!

I do feel for poor Richard. Her demands are just so ludicrous and the situations she gets into, are the stuff of legend.

Her family are reminiscent of a situation I have known in my personal life when I was younger - the grubby council house, the broken down car, a busted gate, seelotape across the window and the letter box plate that falls off as you knock on the door.

I am so glad I am not part of that anymore, but it is just so hilarious how they certainly manage to bring Hyacinth right down to reality!

Real classic!

If using a message board for It's purpose is getting out of hand then I plead guilty. However, it seems to me that my crime is not agreeing with you. Tough! I have every right to my opinion & to express it on this message board! How any of my comments are like Hyacinth's I don't know. Surely you & other posters who object to my opinion because it differs from your's are being like her. Confused
You have not proved any point, I have no intention of "moving along" & subject very much not closed!

Certain people are getting a little out of hand on this subject- and the person in Q is VERY much like Hyacinth- complaining in EXACTLY the same fashion that she would- now that IS funny.
Call me a liar if you wish H (or should I be saying Hyacinth hehehe)- but I find my behaviour funny as do my family (who are lovely, warm, loyal and caring- not to mention educated people). If I have proved a point- good. Move along Hyacinth- Topic closed. Big Grin

This is not a "have a dig at Hyacinth fans" it is me using this message board for it's true purpose, that is to comment on the programming on this channel. As I've already pointed out I don't watch this rubbish, however, this does not exclude me from commenting on it or from saying why I don't like it!
The message board is not here just for people to make pointless statements along the lines of "I think KUA is funny because it's really funny" & other such inanities it is here to give feedback to GOLD about their programming by the paying viewers & to start debate. By the same token that I don't have to watch, people who don't like my comments don't have to read them or post pointless replies.

All I can say to Harbottle and people like her/ him is that you dont have to watch her on tele if you dont like her. There are lots on tele that I dont like and dont even think of casting my judgement on others as everyone is entitled to like who they want. There are lots of American programmes that I find totally unfunny but I wouldnt dream of posting what they are as others may enjoy them. Please dont feel sorry for my family Harbottle as they are very well thankyou and if this a have a dig at Hyacinth fans then you will not succeed!!!
As AndreaC4753 says ' move along there please'!!!

Roll Eyes
This may come as a surprise to you but I don't watch this rubbish! However, I do have the misfortune of seeing it from time to time & so feel I can comment on it, particularly as GOLD insist on showing it ad nauseam which means other, more worthy, comedies don't get shown.
The fact that you appear "love" everything re KUA doesn't make it funny or make me change my opinion one iota.

I have to disagree with Harbottle!! If you dont like it then dont watch it. I love Hyacinth and her sisters Daisy and Rose. Poor Richard I love him to bits, he sure puts up with loads but he loves his lovely Hyacinth like we all do. I love it when she tells the people who ring up for the chinese takeaway not to call on her white slimline telephone for anything of foreign extraction!!

LONG LIVE HYACINTH!!!!

I would say that my opinion has not changed one bit about the programme or the characters. You say you're like Hyacinth, so what? Am I supposed to call you a liar? For all I know you could be making it up to prove a point! If you really are like her I would say it's nothing to be proud of & feel sorry for your family.

ANDREAC4753

I have to say that my family call me Hyacinth as they feel I am EXACTLY like her.Wonder what you make of me then Harbottle?
I am fussy, houseproud, poke my nose into other peoples business and can be a pain in the proverbial but love my family
So there, move along please.

I stand by my original comment that the characters are unbelievable, in particular Hyacinth. In my job I meet 100s of people in a week & have never, in 10 years, met anybody like her. But it is not just the bad characterisation that makes me hate this programme so much it is also the unfunny scripts & the dreadful acting by most of the cast. Patricia Routledge in particular is seriously overrated as a comedy actress!

Phantaysia

I disagree with harbottle about the unbelieveable characters. Perhaps you do not know such a variety of people but I for one, and I am sure many others, can relate a good quantitu of those characters to someone I know personally. Which makes it all the funnier.

You must be joking! Keeping up Appearances is possibly the least funny programme on TV! Considering it was written by Roy Clark, a writer with a well proven track record, it should never have seen the light of day. It is full of unbelievable characters & situations & the acting (with a few exceptions) is awful, particularly Patricia Routledge. Please stop showing it & consign it to the rubbish bin it so rightly belongs in.
