I totally agree with all the comments regarding the pink logo. It's distracting and annoying. And I also agree with the comments about talking over the end of the programmes. The credits are there so we can see the names of the actors etc. How many times do you see a face and think "I know that person but I can't think who he/she is. I'll check out the credits at the end"? Only to find that the credits have been squeezed into a 2 inch wide frame so that the next programme can be advertised over it. Thoroughly annoying! It's all becoming very Un-British! Is this part of the infiltration of those over the water? Dragging once good British TV down to their levels? Cry

I tried to watch a programme, but couldn't ignore the logo.

However, I can ignore your channel until a slightly more rational set of marketing monkeys get their paws on the digital Crayolas.

Why on earth are really good programmes being spoiled by sticking such an annoying logo on top of them.

I'm afraid if this is the best GOLD can do I'll just rent out DVDs in future. Angry

They only came up with Go Laughing Daily because it fitted with GOLD. UKTV Gold was all about classic TV, and has now been mutilated to a comedy channel.

It is quite easy to give up Sky, as you can get virtually all your shows on DVD. The only shows that you can not get on DVD, they've axed eg Eastenders and the Bill

Cancel SKy, and join a DVD rental service, then you can enjoy all the TV you want, and what you choose. If they do not have what you want, then can either track down the DVD on ebay, and then resell it if you want to and get your money back.

Withot Eastenders there is not much point in bothering with Sky

Had to sign up to the board to add my voice to the new logo discussion, and to agree that the size and colour of the logo is too distracting.

I appreciate that in a multi-channel environment, brand managers like to remind viewers what channel they are watching, and this can be helpful in identifying +1 channels etc..., but to have a distracting large logo in such bright colours at the top of the screen (where quite often faces or other parts of the action are taking place) is a real turn-off and eye sore.

Why does the UK not follow the American branding convention of a simple opaque logo at the bottom of the screen (left or right depending on network)?

A simple plea to the UKTV brand managers, please reconsider or tone down the logo on Gold!

I myself have just signed up to this message board to say how silly the new logo on UKtv gold is, what a silly thing to do a bright pink logo on the screen which distracts viewing. Not to mention the volume of the adverts being to loud. Please change it back to how it was, it was fine before.

I agree with all above. It's also just like watching Disney channel. Who ever thought of this motif. It was fine as before. And why why why do you keep interupting the prgrammes at the end. UKTV GOLD as it was was brilliant. But I can't watch it now. I am condidering doing away with SKY. Angry

Well, we've had announcers talking over the final lines of the programme, programmes finished by a milisecond and there's an instant trailer and squeezing of credits, but last night's Blackadder ending saw a new low. The final "over the top" sequence from Blackadder Goes Fourth was running, incredibly poignant, when all of a sudden the already intrusive pink logo suddenly expands and out of the side of it comes a banner almost the length of the screen advertising "The Royle Family, coming up next." It can't surely be true that this channel is staffed by morons. Can it?

I agree all that has been said regarding the logo. It is awful.

Regarding the channel. They must have looked at the viewing figure and saw comedy was the most popular thus a comedy channel thou I think someone beginning with P had that idea years ago.

It has potential but it has not changed from before. Dip into the archives of the BBC. The Goodies , Morecambe and Wise, Are You Being Served, Hancock, Sykes etc etc. Even programmes about the programmes. I remember a great documentary about how they made the M&W Xmas specials. G.O.L.D. if you want pointers look at how you were in 1993. Absolute Brilliance!

PINK IS THE WRONG CHOICE OF LOGO COLOUR FOR A GOLD CHANNEL - WHY PINK - WHATS WRONG WITH A NICE WARM YELLOW?

PLEASE RE-BRAND INTO UKTV GOLD WITH A SPACE HOPPER.

like the others I have registered to voice my opinion of the g.o.l.d rebranding.-Irritating & intrusive logo, irritating & intrusive voiceovers, obviously the work of a half wit. If ever there was an incentive to a) put a brick through the t.v &/or b) go and read a decent book then g.o.l.d is it. This must represent the nadir of digital television. Ah well one less channel to watch.

As above, I have also sought out this website and registered especially in the hope that someone at UKTV will read these posts and do something about the ridiculous new logo on 'Gold'. What is the point of showing the 'best of British comedy' if you are going to slap a large pink circle in the top left corner? I've just tried to watch 'The Good Life' but gave up after finding my eyes constantly drawn to the intrusive logo (which seems to read 'Golo', by the way). What's wrong with a transparent white logo as before? Another example of pointless rebranding at the expense of the programmes you are promoting. Can't you let your content speak for itself?

I HATE the new motif! It distracts the eye! Fancy putting a bright pink circle on the screen! Get rid please! Angry

Registered specially so I could make my feelings known about the ridiculous new motif in the top left of the screen. It's far too intrusive! I hate these unnecessary embellishments anyway but the old one was barely noticeable, now it's at the forefront of the shows themselves and make them, for me, unwatchable.

Agree about the stupid name too, why can't folk leave things alone?

totally agree with the above and why do they have to announce after every programme what chennel the programmes were originally shown on etc etc. just stick a label on the end because if i have to listen to that every programme i will be round the twist ny the end of a week. also why oh why split the channels up and have gold on 110 and gold+1 20 channels away.grrrrrrrrr no sooner will we get used to that than they will move them all again. i have no problem with adding channels but why keep changing the names and channel numbers of existing channels it is just silly and doesnt make any sense. maybe we should all strike and get rid of sky (lol like i could do without it) might make em sit up n take notice of their customers though.

Not only is there a silly pink ring - says a lot about the guys who thought this up -say no more, nudge nudge - but the name is totally patronising and childish.

The same goes for Dave, Watch and Alibi.

They must have came out a cheap Xmas Cracker.
