Kenneth MacDonald

Special mention must be made of Kenneth MacDonald, who was truly an unsung hero of Only Fools and Horses before he passed away suddenly at just 50 years of age.

As Mike, the affable landlord of the Nag's Head, he was the most low-key of the regulars. Boycie, Denzil and Trigger may have had the funnier lines, but Mike was the reassuring presence behind them all - the quiet good guy who eternally failed to get Del to settle his account at the bar. And bought a fair few "bargains" from Trotters Independent Traders.

Kenneth MacDonald had previously made his name as Nobby on the classic World War Two sitcom It Ain't Half Hot Mum, and also turned up on Brookside. But it was as Mike that he achieved an unlikely degree of success – he was even voted runner-up in a poll on TV's top pint-pullers (first place went to Corrie's Bet Lynch!)
