Prison Break Characters: On The Run
John Abruzzi

John Abruzzi

Abruzzi's prominent position in the Mafia made him one of the most feared and respected inmates at Fox River. Abruzzi was sentenced to no less than 120 years in jail thanks to the testimony of one Otto Fibonacci, who saw Abruzzi order the execution of two men. Fibonacci was placed in a witness protection programme, frustrating the vengeful Abruzzi.

Michael Scofield had learnt the whereabouts of Fibonacci, and promised to spill the beans to Abruzzi in return for the mobster's help in escaping Fox River. Abruzzi agreed to the deal - but secretly told his men on the outside to kidnap Veronica Donovan in order to force Michael to divulge the information about Fibonacci. The plan didn't succeed, and led to the death of Veronica's lawyer friend Nick Savrinn. Ultimately Abruzzi did help Michael escape, although the escape plane he requested took off without them - leaving the escapees to flee the police on foot.

Played by Peter Stormare

Abruzzi is played by one of the more experienced members of the Prison Break cast. Peter Stormare is someone you’ll recognise even if you can’t quite place him, because over the years he's been in everything from Fargo to The Big Lebowski to Bad Boys II. Of Swedish origin, his real name is actually the rather action-movie-sounding 'Peter Storm', and he was discovered by the legendary art house director Ingmar Bergman.
