Prison Break 2: Sweet Caroline
Michael pays the consequences, but finally comes face to face with the president; An unlikely alliance forms between Bellick and Sucre; T-Bag loses his money and C-Note's offered an out if he double-crosses Mahone.
C-Note has held up his part of the bargain and hanged himself in his cell with the noose Mahone gave him but a guard sees him and pulls him down. "Let me die," he gasps. Kellerman prepares his rifle and scope and gets updates on President Caroline's arrival time via the earpiece he grabbed from the agent he killed. As Mahone races up the stairwell, the group thanks Green and sends him on his way.
The brothers figure they'll need an "out" if this plan doesn't work so Lincoln decides to contact Derek, an old friend who owes him a favor. Michael sets a time and place to meet with Sara after his attempt. Before he departs he says, "If anything happens, I love you both." Mahone arrives at the hotel and gets a key from a maid. Sara hears him open the door and hides. Mahone checks the room and seeing no one, leaves. Sara crawls out from under the bed and Mahone barges in, gun drawn.
Sara says it's over between her and Scofield, but he's not buying it. T-Bag lands in Mexico and heads to the baggage claim. Before he can retrieve the bag of cash, he spots Bellick. T-Bag goes in the back and attempts to grab the bag as it comes around. A baggage handler sees him and they fight. T-Bag takes out the handler and lays the guy on the carousel. He's forced to flee without the money.
C-Note's in the infirmary. He begs a guard to let him use the phone and calls Mahone's office. Lang answers. Another agent takes the call and C-Note gives him a message for Mahone: He'll do it. He just needs more time. And don't hurt his family. The agent is suspicious.
Lincoln arrives at a work location in Chicago and confronts Derek. Lincoln says he owes him and hands him a piece of paper, saying he needs it now. From the roof, Kellerman watches the motorcade approach. The President steps out of the limo, but he can't get a clear shot. Michael's in the crowd and manages to hand her a slip of paper, causing her agents to tackle him. She reads the paper: "We have the tape." She's in shock.
Michael's led down a hall where he's cuffed to a chair. Kim appears and dismisses the agents. Michael demands to speak with the President but Kim ignores him and wants Lincoln's location. When Michael refuses, Kim removes his suit jacket and proceeds to beat him nearly to death. Safe in Mexico, Sucre and Maricruz are watching the news when T-Bag's picture flashes on the screen. The baggage handler recounts his encounter with T-Bag. Sucre figures out that T-Bag's lost the money. Sara picks up on Mahone's drug symptoms. She examines a pill, saying it's a "hard-core tranquilizer".
Michael, spitting blood still isn't talking so Kim pulls his gun. At the last second, the President marches in saying she needs to speak with Michael, alone. When Kim protests, she bullies him and he reluctantly leaves. Once alone with Michael Caroline begins, "The things you do for your brother, it's impressive." "I could say the same for you, but I won't," Michael responds.
He mentions the recording but she says she spoke with her brother many times. Michael spells it out for her: the conversation took place after his "death" and he's sure it's something she'd want to keep "in the family." That stops her cold. She asks Michael if he has the tape. He explains they've made twenty copies and she can hear it on the phone or on the news. Sucre returns home to find Bellick there. The President calls Lincoln and he plays the recording for her. She flashes back to the actual call. Her brother is lonely and misses her lying next to him. Misses her touch. They had an incestuous relationship. Caroline looks sick that someone else has heard it.
The suspicious agent visits C-Note and says, "If you give me Mahone, I'll give you your life back." Bellick leads Sucre away in cuffs. He brags that he'll get a hundred grand for Sucre. Sucre pipes up that he knows where Bellick can get five million. "T-Bag's in town."
Caroline asks what the brothers want. Michael says he wants to be able to walk away, no surveillance and full pardons for him and Lincoln. Because he knows all about paperwork getting lost, he wants her to announce the pardons on live TV immediately. She has no choice and releases Michael and tells Kim what she's going to do. He's livid but helpless to stop her.
Derek brings Lincoln three one-way tickets, one cabin and a six-pack of beer. Michael's at the corner where he's to meet Sara but she's not there. At the hotel, Mahone sets down his gun to take another pill. Sara's phone rings but she refuses to answer it. When Mahone reaches for it, Sara grabs his gun. She gets her phone and leaves. Mahone calls Lang, whom he had waiting outside, to tail Sara. Kim tells his mysterious boss about Caroline's plan but the man just hands him a file marked "SONA."
Michael calls Sara with the good news and gives her a new location to meet. He goes to Lincoln and the boys celebrate with a beer. Lincoln reports that Derek got them a cabin on a freighter headed to South America, via the Great Lakes. Michael says they won't need that now. Michael switches on the TV. As Kellerman and the brothers watch, and Sara listens in her car, Caroline takes the stage and makes a "very important announcement." She has cancer and will be stepping down, immediately. Lincoln and Michael sit there, shell-shocked. They know she can't issue a pardon if she's not the acting president. Finally Michael says there's only one thing left. "We gotta disappear. Forever."
