Prison Break 2: The Message
While on the run with Kellerman, Michael and Lincoln reveal their story on national television; Michael gets a coded message to Sara which could reunite them once again; and Bellick gives Mahone a valuable clue that may jeopardize their entire plan.
As the police call for the brothers to give up and come out with their hands up, Michael devises a plan. Kellerman flashes an FBI badge, and announces to the police that he's apprehended the brothers. He leads the boys from the motel. One officer becomes suspicious, forcing Kellerman to draw his weapon. Lincoln draws also. Kellerman takes a cameraman hostage, and they speed away in a reporter's car. Mahone returns to work, and gets updated on the case.
After they pull off the road Lincoln suggests they lose Kellerman, but Michael says they still need him. Bellick awakens in the Fox River infirmary, badly beaten. A trustee warns him that he'll be on the receiving end of many more beatings. Sucre rides a bus somewhere south of the border.
A Fox News Report comes on TV, playing a video shot by the cameraman. In it Lincoln proclaims his innocence, and gives Steadman's time and place of death. Kim and his superior watch as the brothers reveal all they know about the Company. Mahone and his team also watch as Michael tells the truth about Shales. The other agents look at Mahone. He dismisses the report, saying Michael's nuts. Bellick begs the nurse to let him stay in the infirmary for an extra night.
The kidnapped cameraman tells an agent that the brothers discussed driving 450 miles in six hours. Mahone calculates exactly where the boys could drive in six hours. Kim calls; they decide the boys are heading for Denver, where the President is scheduled to speak. Kim wants to use the President as bait. Sucre is kicked off the bus because he has no money, but a kindly old man invites him to his home for dinner. He talks to his Hispanic host about getting to Maricruz, and discovers the man's wife died a week ago. Sucre spies the man's car keys. After the man goes to bed, Sucre steals his car. The government men analyze every movement in the brothers' video.
A psychologist says that Lincoln's body language indicates he's lying, and that Michael is tapping out a Morse code message with his finger: "The water is warm." In a flashback we see Kellerman coaching the boys on how to lie using body language. Michael decides to throw in a meaningless message to distract the Feds. Mahone orders a transcript.
Sara watches the video, and notices Michael's clues. Mahone figures the brothers are not going after the President, but going to meet with Sara instead. Sucre is pulled over by the police. They bring him back to the old man. The man covers for him and lies, saying he lent Sucre his car. After the police leave the man gives Sucre some money, and sends him on his way with, "Find your girl."
Lincoln reads a newspaper that says the body of a janitor was found in the motel room. Kellerman assures him that once they get the information from Sara, they'll all be cleared. Lincoln pulls Michael aside, and suggests that Kellerman maybe using them to kill Sara once she shows up. At Fox River Mahone interviews Bellick, since Sara listed him as a reference on her job application. Bellick refuses to talk unless Mahone gets him transferred to Ad Seg. Mahone finally agrees. Bellick points out that some of the phrases in the transcript, "Another Chance" and "Safe Haven," are chapters in the AA book.
Using the book, Mahone figures out that the brothers will meet Sara at St. Thomas hospital in Akron. As Michael, Lincoln, and Kellerman wait outside the hospital for Sara, Michael hears a hospital announcement that "Michael Crane" has a phone call. Mahone's on the phone with the Akron PD, and sends them to the hospital. Michael takes the call. It's Sara. She couldn't get there in time. She knows her father gave her something important, and explains that a man grabbed her in Gila and tried to get that something from her. Michael becomes angry.
She explains that she got away, and that her father gave her a key, but she doesn't know what it's for. "We'll figure it out, together," Michael assures her. Outside Kellerman gets a call from the President herself. She apologizes profusely, and tells him to "Take care" of the brothers and come home. She'll welcome him with open arms. After the call Kellerman asks if Michael got in touch with Sara. He confirms that he did: "In a few days this should all be over, one way or another." Kellerman agrees, "Absolutely."
