£80 for bread head

A Romanian bakery owner offered his employees £80 each to shave their heads so that they would "better resemble the bread they bake".

A Romanian bakery owner offered his employees £80 each to shave their heads so that they would "better resemble the bread they bake".

Vasilie Presecan from Sibiu in central Romania came up with the "close shave" idea as a gimmick for the company to sell more bread, according to Ananova.com.

He argues that as well as being more hygienic when working in a catering environment, a streamlined head also better resembles a loaf of baked bread.

Surprisingly, many of Vasilie's workers had a secret hankering to look like a loaf of Hovis and took him up on his £80 offer.

Presecan stated: "I shaved my head and asked all of my 60 workers to do it, and offered £80 each as an incentive. And they all did it, both men and women.

"I thought this would be more hygienic and also the new look could be a trademark for our factory.

"Especially since the resemblance between their bald heads and their baking is very striking."
