EastEnders: Top Ten secrets
Secrets and revelations make soaps go round, and Walford's certainly had its share of them over the years! Here's our rundown of the Square's most earth-shattering moments...
10: Oh, brother!
Chalk-and-cheese brothers Anthony and Paul Trueman couldn't have been more different. Except they were. As a shocked Anthony found out, they had different dads!
9: Watts in a kiss?
Poor old Vicki Watts was just settling into a cosy family environment when she glimpsed Dennis snogging Sharon in a taxi. Cue trauma, shrieking, and all the other stuff EastEnders does so well.
8: I'm your father!
What was David Wicks to do when a lusty Bianca made a move for him? Being David, he felt a forbidden flicker of temptation before coming to his senses and telling the horrified girl that he was her father!
7: Grant the rat
It's never nice finding out your husband's been having an affair, but what if the other woman is your own mother? It spelt doom for Tiffany Mitchell, whose death was indirectly caused by Grant's fling with her no-good mum.
6: The Ferreiras
For a while it looked like the Farreira siblings would never realise that the much-maligned Tariq was their half-brother. It's a good thing Ronny got stabbed and needed that kidney, really.
5: Who's the daddy?
It was one of the biggest Eastenders mysteries of all time: just who had made the 16-year old Michelle Fowler pregnant? Clue: he's not called Dirty Den for nothing.
4: The Slaters
"You're not my mum!" screams one. "Yes I am!" screams the other. Just another day in the Square, then. This particular bombshell was dropped by Kat and digested by Zoe, who understandably went a bit odd afterwards.
3: Sharongate
The nation watched on tenterhooks when Grant discovered that Sharon had slept with Phil. The ensuing frivolities included Kathy flying off the handle and Grant putting his bruv in a coma.
2: Angie's illness
The awful-but-touching relationship between Den and Angie was dealt its death blow when he realised she had faked a terminal illness to stop him from leaving her. His revenge on Christmas Day 1986 remains the soap's best-known moment.
1: Who shot Phil?
It was the storyline that had supermarkets installing televisions so shoppers wouldn't miss the revelation that it was Lisa who had tried to do Phil in. But one question remains: why couldn't she have been a better shot?
