First and Last Episodes Weekend

First and Last Episodes Weekend

Sat 4th July from 1pm & Sun 5th July from 2.10pm

G.O.L.D. is home to some of the best-loved comedy ever made, but whilst you might have seen every episode in-between of your favourite shows, do you remember the very first and last time? For one weekend only, G.O.L.D. is giving you the opportunity to see the very first episode of some of Britain’s finest comedies, followed immediately by the last. See how some of comedy's most famous giants grew out of small acorns in G.O.L.D.'s special weekend.

On Saturday 4th July you'll be able to catch the first and last episodes of The Likely Lads, The Thin Blue Line, Blackadder and Only Fools and Horses and, on Sunday 5th July we've got Open All Hours, Dinnerladies, One Foot in the Grave and The Vicar of Dibley.

Did you know...?
When Ben Elton joined Richard Curtis in the writing team for Blackadder after the first series, Elton suggested a major change in character emphasis: Baldrick would become the stupid sidekick, while Edmund Blackadder evolved into a cunning sycophant.

The now iconic Only Fools and Horses theme tune is performed by writer John Sullivan, and not – as is sometimes thought – by Nicholas Lyndhurst. Sullivan had actually intended for Chas & Dave to sing it, but they were unavailable.

The character of Geraldine in The Vicar of Dibley was created specifically by writer Richard Curtis as the polar opposite of Edmund Blackadder, and whose problems are generally the result of good intentions.
