Murder Most Horrid
Wednesdays at 10.20pm
Over four series of Murder Most Horrid, Dawn French showcases the kind of diverse acting talents that has makes her one of the most celebrated comic actresses of her generation.
New to G.O.L.D. Murder Most Horrid not only features French and her insane characters, but the part sitcom, part crime drama and part anthology horror series also gives a platform to actors Jim Broadbent, Kathy Burke, Minnie Driver, Graeme Garden, Sean Hughes, Hugh Laurie, Roger Lloyd Pack, Tony Slattery and Timothy Spall, as well as writing talent such as Ian Hislop and new Doctor Who head honcho Steven Moffat, to strut their stuff. Rounding off the stellar talent, Shaun Of The Dead and Hot Fuzz director Edgar Wright got his big break on the series.
But back to the heart of Murder Most Horrid. Each episode sees French assume the role of different character, and the series starts with an Ian Hislop and Nick Newman-penned story about a traffic cop put in charge of what appears to be a straightforward murder case. But nothing is ever straightforward in Murder Most Horrid.
