We do love our curmudgeons here in Blighty, and Victor Meldrew's one of the best. Shot through with comedy as black as the electronic box that replaced him at work, this great sitcom follows Victor as he settles into retirement – which he finds about as comfortable as an armchair made of hedgehogs. Trying to kill all his unwanted free time with hobbies and odd jobs, Victor is a man at war with the modern world. And we wouldn't want it any other way.
