Morecambe & Wise Greatest Moments
Thursday 28th May at 9pm
It may be over 40 years since Eric Morecambe and Ernie Wise first started out on their long road to comedy greatness, but it's 25 years since Eric Morecambe's untimely death.
During the course of their partnership, they were Britain's best loved comedy double act, attracting huge viewing figures for their series and (more iconically) their Christmas specials.
The duo's dynamic consisted of Eric as the wisecracking and confident one, and Ernie as the sensitive straight man. They may not have been the first to use this template, but no-one has worked it better before or since.
This month G.O.L.D. – with the help of some celebrity fans - pays tribute to Eric's memory (and the duo's comedy genius), with Morecambe & Wise Greatest Moments – the ultimate run down of the pair's funniest skits and sketches. From Angela Rippon's song and dance and Glenda Jackson as Cleopatra to Singin' In The Rain to Andre Previn playing the piano, it's genius from start to finish.
