Hi I have a big problem please help, I have a nice sized garden but the problem I have is in my next door nieghbours garden there is a huge oak tree and has an presavation order on it. The problem is that my grass has died and my plants are stuggling I cant do alot at the mo because of health reasons but I love my garden, what can i do to help my garden florish again
I have just bought my first home the house is lovely needs a little work but the back garden really lets it down. Its only small but doesn’t take much looking after. The problem I have is it’s a sloping garden and I don’t know what my options are and I know the garden can look great with some ideas and a lot of care. Please Help!
I am having a extention on the back of my house this yr, we have a lovely garden its about 120ft long and looks great in the summer with boarders down the sides and lots of flowers, but i think it will need some TLC after the extention has been finished.
I think it's time for a bit of a face lift next summer and I would love to get Sven Wombwell involved, how do i go about it?
Our back garden is dominated by a double garage that my 3 children (age 12 & 10 yr old twins) play football against & an area of mud that my wife optimistically refers to as a lawn - as in " PLEASE don't kick the ball onto the lawn when it's so wet..! "
As the children are growing up I think we could do something more 'creative' with the space but still retain a recreation area.
I'd love to give my wife a surprise & transform the garden so that WE can relax in it with the kids. But I need some inspiration and what I REALLY need is Sven & his team to come round ... Any chance of either??
Thanks
My daughter has recently bought her first house and inbetween holding down a demanding job and trying to renovate the house on her own. The large back garden has proved too much. Being from Gibraltar she hasn`t got a clue what to do with a garden...Now how can I get Sven to help??
Hi Sven. I have recently had a conservatory built and now my garden is half the size (around 4m square). I still have old grass in places and a shed at the bottom for storage. I am desperate for some ideas on how to make the most out of the space I have left and have been watching all the gardening programmes I can to get ideas however it always seems to be large gardens with big strong men to do the hard labour. I'm really stuck and I need it to be as little cost financially as possible - can you help. P.S. When are you coming to Glasgow???????
Hi Sven, after 20 years of my tiny garden being taken over by climbers on fencing etc: we have gone thro' the ordeal of having it cleared, all the flower bed, and fences have gone. One wall needs to be rebuilt, it fell when the fence went, the idea was to totally pave the whole garden, the problem is that there is a good slope toward the house and as I am disabled I really dont want a step/terrace. To smal for grass and too big for all gravel, help with Ideas please, many thanks.

I think this smilie is supposed to be wearing shades, looks more like a monobrow to me though...

Good morning Sven,
I have had such a lot of enjoyment from your programme. Also the hints, tips and great ideas have been a boon.
Please could you write some advice. An enclosure is needed round an area at the bottom of my new piece of ground.
A woodland walk is planned.Planting will mainly be edge of wood and informal plants. My local council want any fencing in keeping with a conservation area.
Eventually I wish to put native hedging round there but what fence to erect is the problem.
We need to see if anyone is out there, yet keep the new garden secure and aesthetically pleasing at the same time.Any readers have a good idea?
Your advice and input would be very welcome Sven,as professionals like yourself have already met and solved these problems in their daily career.
Many thanks in advance of your assistance with my query,
Kathleen,(Scotland).

Hi Sven My husband and I have been working on our extension for nearly 2 yrs and we would love you to help with a garden makeover - not a whole garden just half. We have installed some very large folding sliding doors and want to create a grown-up patio area something contemporary and different - I am 40 next Sept - and this would be my ultimate request to have my special space - having three children you definately need this - the children have a large space in the garden that is fine for them - are you planning on doing any new shows and how can I get started in applying - Lastly, we are not put off by getting stuck in and making this happen soon.
Hi there! Can you let me know how to apply for some of Sven's expertise in my garden please? We moved into our new house last year, a week before my daughter Daisy, was born and she is now 9 months old. She'll be walking soon and it's rather dangerous outside with the way things are at the moment.
It's also my husband's 40th this year and it would be a fantastic surprise for him. We both work full time and it's difficult to find the time, and to be honest, the money to get the garden sorted and the space is going to waste. It's ony a small garden on a terraced house, and we're lacking in privacy from the neighbours too, who are both lovely, but it would be nice to have a little sanctuary of our own where Daisy can play and I don't have to worry. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for reading

Hi There,
I was recently made redundant, and the funds I received although not very much, I have spent a lot of the money doing our childrens bedrooms but we did manage to get fencing for the back garden, we have done a lot of the hard work in the garden and managed to clear it, so it really is a blank canvas, well almost, just a bit of grass popping up. We do have funds left to try and finish this garden, we would really appreciate any comments you have, although I enjoy gardening very much but I can't seen to come up with any decent ideas where to start, we don't expect to have anything done for free and are willing to pay, but would really love to be on one of the gardening shows. As explained we have cleared most of the rubbish, but are struggling trying to get it level. We want to make the garden as simple as possible, mainly gravel and decking, unless you have any other suggestions to minimise the cost for us.
The garden shape is an upside down L shape with a shed in the right hand corner, I could email photo's of how the garden is looking.
I am sure you get litterally thousands of people wanting to get on shows to have a free makeover, but I am not expecting anything for free, we would really like some good advice, and help with our garden project., to appear on a show would be a bonus.
I would be very grateful for some of Sven's advise onthe above, and if he is willing to travel to Wythenshawe in Manchester, although not many shows seen to come to Manchester, but I live in hope.
Many Thanks for your time.
Sue
hi sue, just read your message-my husband has just been made redundant to but the best therapy has been in the garden-by making room for growing veg! i have 5 children and they have all helped in the veg plot, if only at times collecting it for the dinner. they began to eat more veg and even taking over preparing and cooking as they got older. my oldest son now has a garden of his own and enjoys it very much.
you can make room in the borders if you have a small garden and they look great too. wyevale garden centre has a sale on seeds, all they need are water and sun, make sure you protect from frost with fleece or start on window sill. hope this helps as it will save money too-growing your own fruit and veg.

You say to plant out summer bedding plants, well I just moved to Scotland and I was told you can have bad frost up here up to the end of May, as I was going to plant mine out this weekend, but I'm notsure what to do.

Its always a bit dificult to know when to plant out,if I were in Scotland I think the first week in June would be ok,its always a gamble,be a devil
good luck and happy gardening ...
hi Sven thanx for inspiring me each morning, although I cant grow things to save me life u have really helped to encourage me to try. Is there any chance of a signed photo please.
best wishes ya aunty mark
Hallo Sven, I am semi disabled and can't do to much digging, my garden is in bad need of some TLC but I need advice on what to do about it. It has a slight slop and is full of long grass and weeds also it has many dips and holes. I would like to make a veg garden out of it but don't know were to start. I do have some small posts and some palets that I could get broken down to make some sort of boarder, although it would take some time for me to do this. What should I do first?
I love your programs but they seem to short please please so more as I look forward to each and every one.
Gerry
Hello Sven
Can i just say GOD BLESS YOU! Your an inspiration to me but especially to my mum, as she started her garden with a clear idea of the different style that Sven has. But..all is not well, it seems my mum has given up on the garden and it makes me sad. :(. Our garden looks like a mish mash and is in dyer need of something! Anything! There is a big trench like almost thing on the side where my mum was going to put raised planters in, but it never happened. There is one great big pile of just soil and another square shaped trench next to it, and the grass..don't get me started on it! My mum wanted a lovely pergular where the paving is but i don't think that is going to happen very soon. :S. There are black bin bags on the other side of the garden (this is when she started) and have just been left, and a battered gate from when we moved in which needs to be taken off! I think if gardens can show emotions our one would be crying its eyes out from looking soo ugly! I know this sounds very cheeky, but is there ANY chance of Sven stepping in and saving the day?? Oh please????
Michaela Nzeh
P.s. If you were to come and save the day, is there any chance of an autograph, my mum would treasure as if it were her life!
