Hi Alan. Any ideas (other than a trip to the vet!) on how to revive my lawn which is patchy brown and dead in some places thanks to the urine of our male German shepherd. (Canine not tourist !)
Can you help ? Alek.

Hi Alan I dont know if you will be able to help, but I have got a Japanese Quince in my garden that has sadly been left to over grow very much, how hard can I cut it back? and will it be OK to do so as I do not want to ruin it!

Hi Alan. I live in Felpham, near the beach and sea. I believe you know the area! What shrubs would be suitable for here. Thanks Confused

Dear Alan,
I have planning permission to enclose an area of ground about 450 m sq.It is woodland edge and in a conservation area. They are happy with the plan for an informal woodland garden with steps in the steeper areas....hill slopes away from the house and is south facing on one side and west facing on the other.
What should I use to enclose it? There is vandalism in the area and I need to be able to see out.I have been told no wire is to be used. What would be in keeping and be aesthically pleasing while the native hedging I have planned for the future grows and matures.
Thank you Alan,
Kathleen Hug Hug Hug

Hi Alan, our garden slopes away quite considerably, and their are containing walls to hold the lawn and garden, but these are cracking as roots in the garden have grown, the wall is about 4 feet high, could you tell me the best and strongest thing to use to replace it with to prevent further problems, we have had such bad experiences with tradesmen we are very reluctant to take advice from them anymore, and just dont known what to do before the garden collapses!!
Please help many thanks sarah Confused Cry Frown

Hi
I have just acquired a rather large allotment plot and know that I need to get going quick to plant out for this year, however, it is thick with grass and weed. Is it just a case of pulling everything up by hand as I do not want to use chemicals? Eek Eek Eek

Hello Alan

My problem is horsetail - tons of it - the wet summer last year meant that it has taken over. We have tried glyphosate, but this prehistoric weed seems to just keep coming back for more - any suggestions?
