Decking is still hot stuff - it's the perfect material for a small, open space.

Hi r'n'r,

You create an oval shape with two pegs and a circle of rope with a marker in it - keeping the rope tight as it goes around the two posts it will draw an oval...

Hi, I'm laying decking outside my patio doors (which joins the dining room to the outside), however I'm having a little bit of a problem. I wanted to create a dining room, that is on the same level as the decking that will be outside the doors linking the two. Is there anyway of getting around the damp proofing level of my house being very low..Thanks! Help appreciated.

Yes there is. Leave a gap of 3-4 inches between the house wall and the edge of the decking. This will stop any water sitting up against the house wall. We have done this with a brick patio and filled the gap with draining grills. All has been well for the last 18 yrs. Happy decking. Lynne.
