Step 3: Lay the rest of the boards

Using a spacer or pencil, lay and nail down the second row of boards.
Continue laying the deck until you reach the house.
Tip: Place the decking so that the seams don't all line up. This will make your deck stronger and it will look much better.

Step 4: Trim the excess

Using the set square and pencil, mark the edge of the deck all the way along the newly laid boards.
You can then use a handsaw or jigsaw to cut along the line, trimming all the boards in one go.
