Garden Makers Designers

If you've watched the show and want to know more about the designers who've created the fabulous makeovers, then read on as we reveal all.

Sarah Layton and Paula Ryan are the design duo and the creative force behind the gardens in new show to UKTV Style, Garden Makers.

Sarah and Paula run their own garden and landscaping company, Allium, based in north London. The producer of the show approached Allium to see what projects they were currently working on and those are the projects that you see in the show! Real people with real garden dilemmas.

Make sure you tune into the show (every week night at 630pm) to see the challenges the designers met with the brief they were given and to cast your verdict over the finished versions.

See below for more examples of Sarah and Paula's work. See Garden Makers for more on the programme and Meet Joe Swift, the presenter of the show.

Many of the sculptures used were supplied by Art Outside. Visit the website for details.
Roof garden

Roof garden

This is a family owned roof garden overlooking Canary Wharf and the Thames Barrier. The views are simply fantastic. For this garden we chose mainly plants with golden brown tones to complement the copper water feature.
Water feature

Water feature

This small garden belonged to a newly built townhosue was in a gated development next to Tower Bridge. The garden's dominant feature was the pair of huge boundary walls enclosing the site's previous occupant - a spice factory. The client wished to create a space that would be contemporary but not sterile as well as relaxing and ideal for entertaining. As a result the plants we chose included Phyllostachys aura (clump-forming bamboo), Euphorbia mellifera, and Pittosporum tobira.
Long view

Long view

This garden in North Kensington was owned by keen gardeners who are very knowledge about plants. They wished to create an easily maintained garden that would give them space to enjoy gardening without all the boring jobs - so no lawn or hedges! We introduced a collection of containers in which they plant tulips, cannas and lillies.
Oriental Garden

Oriental Garden

This garden is situated on the hill of Alexandra Palace behind a victorian terraced house. The client wanted to create a relaxing family garden with a 'nod towards the orient'. It needed to be useable all year round and easy to maintain. Plants used include Nandina domestica, Stipa tennuissima, Betula utilis var. Jacquemontii (multi-stemmed birch trees).
