Structures + Safety
Pottery urns, from £94
Great for: Mediterranean or contemporary gardens.Working from a converted outbuilding in rural West Dorset, Kate Mellors makes a range of stoneware ceramics for the garden and conservatory. The pottery is handmade from grogged stoneware clay and high-firing temperatures make it impervious to water and completely weatherproof.
Available from: Mellors Ceramics on tel (01297) 678 217.
Terracotta pots, from £90
Great for: Planting or display.Pound Hill Gardens stocks two types of hand-thrown terracotta pots. The clay used to make them is fired to a pale sand colour with a slightly chalky finish and since the pots are fired to around 1150°C, they are completely weather resistant. They come in a choice of sizes to fit on a windowsill or make a large focal point in a garden. And Pound Hill Gardens will even prepare these pots with good combinations of plants 'ready to go', including both perennial and tender plantings which can be prepared to order for special occasions.
