Tulip (Tulipa kaufmannia 'Glück')
Introduced in 1999, this short-stemmed tulip has large open flowers with attractive yellow and red colours. They look really good when lots of bulbs are grown together in a bowl and displayed on a doorstep or windowsill.
Price: Expect to pay about £5 for six bulbs mail order.
The Knowledge
- Plant Type: Bulb, Perennial
- Height: 17.73cm(7in)
- Spread: 15.24cm(6in)
- Situation: Sunny border
- Soil Type: Medium rich
After everything has died down following flowering, the bulbs can be lifted, tidied up, and recycled for next year. Keep them out of frost and damp conditions otherwise you will lose them. Collect any small bulbs that have grown on the original bulb and plant them up in the next season.
