Price: Expect to pay about £4 for a good plant.

The Knowledge

  • Plant Type: Evergreen perennial
  • Height: 30.48cm(12in)
  • Spread: 30.48cm(12in)
  • Situation: Home, greenhouse, warm shady garden in summer
  • Soil Type: Medium rich
Peace lilies, so named for their pure white colours, make good houseplants since their flowers last a long time. In the wilds of Asia and South America they live in shady tropical rainforests so that in the warmest gardens they can be grown outside in shady borders.

Like so many plants this is a poisonous plant and should not be grown in close proximity to children. The poisons ward off leaf eaters and the plant is relatively pests free. It can be grown from seed or the roots can be lifted and divided after flowering for increase.
